BEST PRACTICES FOR PREVENTING LOTTERY THEFT We understand that many retailers are concerned about lottery theft, which is why we continue to update our best practices to help prevent lottery theft. Please follow as many of the best practices as possible. ■ At closing each day: Remove dispensers or dispenser trays and lock them up. ■ At opening and closing each day: Keep an accurate track of scratch ticket inventory. Make sure you record the game, pack and ticket number. Utilize SmartCount, the electronic sales and inventory software, located on your lottery terminal. SmartCount must be added to a terminal to use it.
