RESEARCH The University of Parma boasts top-level scientific research: outstanding results of research teams, articles on the main international scientific journals and a number of successful partnerships with other important universities are just some examples of such high quality. Our research teams excel in a number of fields: from food and agriculture to biotechnologies, from innovative treatment to experimental medicine, not to mention law, economics and arts. Among the greatest discoveries of our researchers, we must not forget the “mirror neurons” in the field of Neurosciences and the studies in Information Engineering concerning Intelligent Transportation Systems, which have led to the creation of Intelligent Vehicles. In 2015, Vislab was acquired by the Silicon Valley Company Ambarella, leader for the development of video compression and image processing systems. Vislab is located in the University Campus. The University Campus also features a leading TechnoPole for industrial research, which includes cutting-edge research centres operating in different industrial sectors. 6 UNIVERSITÀ DI PARMA www.unipr.it home index BRIEF GUIDE 2019 7
