BENEFITS 2019 ADJUNCT FACULTY The information contained in this presentation is a summary of general benefits available to active employees of the University of Maryland Global Campus. Wherever conflicts occur between the contents of this presentation and the policies, contracts, rules, regulations, or laws governing the administration of the various programs, the terms set forth in the various policies, program contracts, rules, regulations, or laws shall prevail.
DIRECT DEPOSIT Direct deposit is required for all state employees. • Employees may deposit funds into any regular checking or savings account at one banking institution; or • Employees may deposit funds with the State Employees Credit Union (SECU)-- www.secumd.org. If you have an SECU account, you may also set up to have your payroll transferred to this SECU account. This is the only way to have funds direct deposited into more than one banking institution. IMPORTANT!! If you want coverage for health, dental, prescription, life, and/or accidental death & dismemberment plans, you MUST enroll within the first 60 calendar days of your DATE OF HIRE (not the date you are actually assigned a class), or during Open Enrollment.
PREMIUM PAYMENTS Premiums are not deducted from your paycheck; therefore, your premiums are post-tax, not pre-tax. --You are placed in the “DIRECT PAY PROGRAM.” --You will be issued monthly payment coupons by EBD. --Payments are made monthly – pay close attention to deadlines! --Methods of payment include: --Personal check and coupon mailed to EBD. --Online payment system – registration instructions are at http://dbm.maryland.gov/benefits/Pages/DirectPayOnlineFAQs.aspx --Set up automatic monthly debits from your savings or checking account.
MAKING CHANGES TO YOUR ELECTIONS After your initial eligibility period, you may only make changes to your benefits during Open Enrollment unless you experience a Qualifying Life Event (QLE): • Birth, Adoption & Placement of a child • Marriage • Divorce or Legal Separation • Death • Spouse’s change in insurance eligibility due to gain or loss of employment • Change in your status (EX: full time to part time) • Dependent loses or gains insurance eligibility You have 60 days from the date of your qualifying life event to update your elections & provide supporting documentation. Except for changes due to birth and/or adoption, coverage will begin on the 1st of the month following the QLE date.
WHO IS AN ELIGIBLE DEPENDENT? • Lawfully married spouse of eligible employee • Biological, adopted, and/or step children through the month in which they turn age 26 – married or unmarried, no requirement to reside in your home. • Biological, adopted, and/or step children, over age 26, incapable of self support (mental/physical - prior to age 26) • Other unmarried child/dependent relatives, under age 26 and who reside in home with some restrictions (e.g., grandchild, legal ward, step-grandchild, other dependent child relatives) • Dependents eligible as a result of a Qualifying Medical Child Support Order • Affordable Care Act

How to Find a Doctor BCBS CAREFIRST PPO/EPO PROVIDER SEARCH The CareFirst PPO and EPO provide access to the BCBS Bluecard national network. 1. Log on to http://www.carefirst.com/statemd/index.html. 2. Select the “Search for a Provider” link under the Member Tools section. 3. Search by Plan or Doctor Name. • CareFirst Regional Provider Directory allows you to narrow down your provider choices if you reside in Maryland, Virginia, or Washington D.C.; otherwise, use the BCBS National Provider Directory (national directory). UNITED HEALTHCARE PPO/EPO PROVIDER SEARCH The United Healthcare PPO and EPO plans also use one national network of providers. 1. Log on to http://stateofmaryland.welcometouhc.com/home. 2. Select the “Find a Doctor/Hospital” link on the left side of the page. 3. Click the “Find by Doctor or Facility near you” option. KAISER PERMANENTE The Kaiser Permanente plan is a regional plan based in Maryland, Virginia and Washington D.C. 1. Log onto http://my.kp.org/maryland/. 2. Select “Members”. 3. Click “Getting Care” under the “Use Your Benefits” section.
2019 WELLNESS PROGRAM Complete the following 4 items: 1. Select a primary care physician (PCP). 2. Complete a health risk assessment (HRA). 3. Review the results of your HRA with your PCP. 4. If your health information is not up-to-date; complete all recommended age/gender specific health screenings for more copay savings.
WHAT DOES THIS GET YOU? Participation is voluntary, but completing the requirements gets you: • $0 copay for primary care physician office visits • Reduced specialists copays • And a healthier you! The sooner you complete the requirements, the sooner you can save $$!
PRESCRIPTION DRUG PLAN AND CO-PAYS CVS Caremark http://www.dbm.Maryland.gov/benefits • Outpatient (i.e., pharmacy) prescription benefits are not included in the medical plan. • $0 Copay Generics Program. • Mandatory Generics: When generic is available, you will be responsible for the difference in cost + the copay if you purchase a non-generic. United Concordia Dental PPO Delta Dental HMO • Deductibel: $50 Single/$150 Family • National Network (Delta Care USA) • Annual Max: $2,500 per participant • No out-of-network coverage • Preventative: 100% • Must choose Primary Dentist Office • Basic Restorative*: 70% after deductible • No annual max or co-insurance; employee • Major Services*: 50% after deductible is responsible for a flat dollar amount per • Orthodontia: 50% up to $2,000 lifetime covered service. *co-insurance based on Allowable Amount
IMPORTANT! • Separate elections must be made for health, prescription, and dental plans. • These are “stand-alone” plans. • Vision coverage is included in each of the health plans.
TERM LIFE BENEFITS See the State of Maryland Benefits Guide at http://www.dbm.Maryland.gov/benefits METLIFE – sponsored by State of Maryland • Employee: Min $10k; Max $300k • Dependent: Min $5k; Max $150k • No duplication of coverage if employee and dependent are state employees. • Dependent cannot have more than 50% of employee coverage amount. • May elect up to $50,000 for employee and $25,000 dependent without Evidence of Insurability if applying within 60 days from date of hire.
ACCIDENTAL DEATH & DISMEMBERMENT (AD&D) Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) provides payment in the event of an accidental death or dismemberment of a covered employee or covered family member. • Administered by MetLife (sponsored by the State of MD). • Available in increments of $100,000, $200,000 or $300,000. • Dependent coverage will be based on a percentage of the employee’s benefit amount elected.
SUPPLEMENTAL RETIREMENT PLANS All employees are eligible to enroll in any of the five Supplemental Retirement Account (SRA) plans: 401(k), 403(b), 457(b), Roth 401(k), and Roth 457(b). Three vendor options: • Fidelity Investments • TIAA • MD Supplemental Retirement (Nationwide) You may begin, change, or stop contributing at anytime. 2019 Contribution Limits: • Employees under 50: Up to $19,000 per plan (calendar year) • Employees 50 and over: An additional $6,000 per plan (calendar year) For details, enrollment forms, and site visit schedules, visit the Retirement Engage page.
