HARMONISE FESTIVAL Celebrate Harmony Week at the City of Belmont’s Harmonise Cultural Festival on Saturday 16 March 2019 from 4pm - 8pm at Tomato Lake, Oats Street, Kewdale. Harmony Week runs from 15 to 21 March every year and encourages everyone to experience, explore and appreciate the City’s cultural, religious, linguistic and ethnic diversity. Get together for a free family outdoor festival to acknowledge and celebrate our cultural diversity. There will be free entertainment and activities including: • Culturally diverse entertainment; • World Harmony Walk; • Fun kids games, rides and lots more. COMMUNITY CENTRE CONSTRUCTION UPDATE The City’s builder PACT Construction continues to make good progress on the new Community Centre building. Dewatering of the site is now complete. Current work includes laying the topping slab to the first floor and work has begun on forming the structure for the second floor. The finished building will be a contemporary and much needed hub for our community, with facilities such as: • Larger and enhanced Library • Crèche • Digital Hub • Senior Citizens Club • Recording Studio • Office for Not-for-Profit organisations • Larger and upgraded Museum • Café. It is anticipated construction of the building will take approximately 2 years, followed by fitout and occupancy by 2020. The program aims to get your health and wellbeing on track and includes a full access, three month gym membership and weekly group exercise sessions coordinated and run by qualified exercise specialists who will be your mentors throughout the program. CountUSin also includes fortnightly cooking and nutrition education classes run by FoodBank WA. Eligible participants can join the program for the LOW COST of $11.10 per week. The next round starts April 2019.
