F ive-year-old Nicolas’ Starlight
Wish was to star in his very own
superhero movie. In preparation for
his Starlight Wish, he watched all
his favourite superhero movies and
practiced his superhero moves.
His wish was a bright moment
after years of battling illness.
When he was three, the family
received the devastating news that
Nicolas had Leukaemia.
“The diagnosis was a complete
shock. It was a routine visit to the
paediatrician and by that afternoon our
world was shattered,” she said.

Starlight Five Chefs Dinner.
Tonight, we celebrate 30 years of Brighter Stories that you have all helped create for

Australia’s seriously ill and hospitalised children and their families.
Since 1988, Starlight has been brightening the lives of seriously ill children by replacing
pain, fear and stress with fun, laughter and joy. During that time, we have granted over 10,000
Starlight Wishes and our Captain Starlight and Starlight Express Room programs are in every
children’s hospital in Australia. Our Livewire program supports the growing number of young
people managing serious illness and through our Healthier Futures Initiative, Captain Starlight Luke Mangan
joins forces with health professionals to help children in remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait

Islander communities.
Starlight Five Chefs Dinners are only made possible thanks to the generosity of so many

evening’s event is donated. This means the majority of the funds raised tonight goes directly

need it the most.
