Welcome Aboard Bearskin Airlines! By Brad Martin, President When I joined Bearskin Airlines 37 years ago, I can truly say I never envisioned that one day I would become President of the airline. I can also say that I never envisioned how many times Bearskin Airlines would re-invent itself over its 50 year history. As many of you are now aware, effective April 1st we have once again re-invented ourselves. This included restructuring the size of our Company, and refocusing on our core markets in Northwestern Ontario and Northeastern Ontario. Service between these two regions is focused on continuing to deliver the most efficient connecting opportunities across Northern Ontario to you, our customer. Effective April 1st, 2014, our route rationalization included the following: • Termination of service to Ottawa and Kitchener/Waterloo. • Reduction of service between Thunder Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, North Bay, Timmins and Kapuskasing. • Rerouting of select flights in Northwestern Ontario to provide enhanced service, offering more capacity and better flight times. It is important to note that Bearskin Airlines will continue to provide its customers with air service linking Thunder Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, North Bay, Timmins and Kapuskasing in the East. In the West, we continue to link Thunder Bay and Winnipeg to Sioux Lookout, Red Lake, Fort Frances, Dryden and Kenora. Thunder Bay continues as our major hub, facilitating the best connections between Northwestern and Northeastern Ontario. We have rationalized service a few times in the past. Each time we’ve done it, we were stronger for it, and each time, it preceded a period of growth. Fortunately, our company possesses many attributes that will permit us to be successful for many years into the future, and we look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead for Bearskin Airlines. I am extremely grateful to lead an experienced and dedicated team at Bearskin Airlines. Our employees are some of the most knowledgeable people in the industry, and I want to thank them all for their continued efforts, understanding and cooperation. Our long term success in delivering the level of service you desire daily is related to our people and the effort they provide. On behalf of Bearskin Airlines, I want to apologize to our loyal customers if we have inconvenienced you with our recent schedule changes, made on very short notice. Many of you have been flying us for many years, and we look forward to continuing to serve you. Thank you for your past and continued support. Bear Country In-Flight Magazine 5
