HIGH ACHIEVER’S SCHOLARSHIP TO FOUNDATION FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS We offer a range of scholarships to high achievers to our Foundation programmes based on the tiers below. Heriot-Watt University Malaysia High Achiever’s Scholarship Results Fee Waiver SPM 9As RM10,000 O-Levels/IGCSE 9As SPM 8As RM8,000 O-Levels/IGCSE 8As SPM 7As RM7,000 O-Levels/IGCSE 7As SPM 6As RM6,000 O-Levels/IGCSE 6As PROGRESSION SCHOLARSHIP Foundation students who maintain A/70% average in their studies will be awarded a 35% progression scholarship in their first year of undergraduate studies. Undergraduate students who maintain A/70% average in their studies will be awarded a 35% progression scholarship in the following year of their undergraduate studies. This scholarship is attainable for every year of their undergraduate studies as long as an A/70% average is met at the end of their academic year. FOUNDATION PROGRESSION DISCOUNT All non-scholarship foundation students receive a RM5,000 discount off their first year undergraduate tuition fees when they progress to their undergraduate studies. FINANCIAL HARDSHIP SCHOLARSHIPS For Malaysian students who are eligible for the High Achiever’s Scholarship (HAS) only. Scholarships with a fee waiver of 50% or 100% off total tuition fees are available for high achieving Malaysian students who have proof of financial hardship. The scholarships are available for students pursuing both Foundation and Undergraduate studies. Students applying for the scholarship should have the following before going through an interview for a panel assessment: n Excellent academic results (min. eligible for High Achiever Scholarship) n Proof of financial hardship Deadlines for Financial Hardship Scholarship Applications Intake Application Deadline April (Foundation only) 22 March 2021 July (Foundation only) 28 June 2021 September (Foundation only) 30 July 2021

This is awarded on receipt of documentary evidence of an undergraduate or postgraduate award from Heriot-Watt University. FAMILY DISCOUNT (For Foundation, Undergraduate and Postgraduate Studies) A discount of 10% is granted to children and/or spouse of a Heriot-Watt University alumni who register for a programme of study at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia. This discount is also granted to siblings of currently registered students of Heriot-Watt University Malaysia who register for a programme of study at the University. This is awarded on receipt of documentary evidence proving the relationship of the registered applicant and the alumnus or student.
WOMEN IN SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP (WISE) POSTGRADUATE Heriot-Watt was the first institution in Scotland to admit women into STEM programmes. Since opening our doors in Malaysia, we’ve made it possible for women in the ASEAN region to gain access to quality teaching and learning in the field of Engineering and SCHOLARSHIPS Science. The scholarship recipient must be enrolled as a full-time student for the entire length of the programme that the student registered for at the time the scholarship was awarded, register for all courses according to the Heriot-Watt University Malaysia (“University”) schedule, pass each course registered for at the first attempt and complete the programme within the original timeframe as stated in the offer letter and adhere to the terms and conditions as set out herein. 2. Scholarships are awarded in the form of a tuition fee waiver only. ’Tuition fee’ does not cover any other charges or fees such as registration fee, international student fees, resitting of examination fee, extension of studies fee and ancillary items required as part of the studies, including but not limited to books, graduation ceremony, final award/certificate, accommodation, student visa processing, sports, and living and other related costs, which shall be borne by the student. 3. The value of the scholarship granted will be deducted against the full tuition fees payable on a semester by semester basis. 4. The recipient of the scholarship is required to fulfil the academic progression criteria as set out by the University, including but not limited to the requirement to pass all subjects and progress to a new semester without fail, until the completion of their studies. In the event the scholarship recipient fails to fulfil the said requirements, the scholarship will be revoked or the amount of the scholarship may be reduced at the sole discretion of the University. 5. The scholarship is only awarded to students enrolled in a programme offered at the University. The scholarship is not transferable to other Heriot-Watt University campuses or locations and will be automatically revoked in the event the scholarship recipient transfers to another programme and/or defer their study to another intake. 6. The scholarship is not exchangeable for cash or other alternatives. 7. The scholarship recipient shall not be holding (concurrently) any other full or partial scholarship from external parties (unless in extenuating circumstances – then specific prior written approval of Heriot-Watt University Malaysia must be obtained). This excludes EPF withdrawals or loans from external financial agencies. 8. Other discounts or scholarship provided by the University will not apply during the tenure of the scholarship. 9. The scholarship recipient shall be a student ambassador for Heriot-Watt University and must participate in the Student Ambassador Programme which includes contributing a minimum of 10 Ambassador Hours in the first year of studies. The scholarship will be revoked in the event the scholarship recipients do not fulfil the requirements in the Student Ambassador Programme (including ambassador hours). 10. The scholarship recipient is required to comply with all the University terms and conditions of admittance, regulations and policies. Scholarship recipients who are found guilty of academic or disciplinary misconduct will have their scholarships revoked and the student will be liable to refund the total amount of tuition fee waiver received from the University in one lump sum within 4 weeks from the date of the revocation of the scholarship

The University reserves the right to involve scholarship recipients in interview, advertisement, photography or other publicity activities for the purpose of promoting the University or any other purpose deems fit to the University. The scholarship recipient assigns to the University any intellectual property or other rights that are created as part of this role. 12. The University reserves the absolute discretion and right to make any amendments to the terms and conditions of the scholarships including the structure of the scholarship award and the scholarship recipients shall be bound by the updated terms and conditions which will be available on the University’s website. 13. In the event that a scholarship recipient decides to discontinue studies (without completion of the programme), the scholarship will be automatically revoked and the recipient is required to reimburse to the University, the total amount of tuition fee waiver awarded. This does not apply to High Achiever’s Scholarship and Financial Hardship Scholarship. The scholarship recipient is required to reimburse the total amount of the waived tuition fee in one lump sum to the University within 4 weeks upon submission of the University Withdrawal Form by the scholarship recipient. 14. The University reserves the right to revoke the scholarship offered or awarded to students at their absolute discretion at any time. In the event of revocation, the students will be required to pay the full tuition fees from the date of revocation and the remainder of the programme. 15. The University will not refund the application fees for students who withdraw from the selection process. 16. The decision from the University and the scholarship selection panel is final. 17. Applicants must submit all required documents based on the deadline fixed by the University. Incomplete applications will not be considered. 18. The scholarships eligibility will be reviewed yearly. All students (both scholarship recipients and non-scholarship recipients) who achieve GRADE A (i.e. 70% average in the academic year) will be awarded with 35% scholarship in the following academic year of undergraduate studies. Scholarship recipients who do not meet this criterion will have their scholarship suspended in the following academic year of undergraduate studies. 19. Forecast results may be considered for the scholarship application, if official results are not available at the time of scholarship application, and the scholarship may be awarded conditionally based on the forecast results. The official results must be provided to the University’s Admission Office within one week of the official results release date failing which, the University reserves the right to revoke the conditional award of the scholarship. 20. The official results must be equal to or better than the forecast results submitted for the scholarship application, failing which the University reserves the right to revoke the conditional award of the scholarship or reduce the amount of the tuition fee waiver to be applied. B Additional Clauses for Financial Hardship, Data Futures, Women in Science and Engineering Scholarship (WISE) 1. Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview by the Scholarship selection panel. The University reserves the right to refuse any application at its absolute discretion without disclosing the reasons of refusal. 2. The scholarship is only awarded for study at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia. The scholarship is not transferable to other Heriot-Watt University campuses or locations. The scholarship will be revoked when scholars transfer to another Heriot-Watt University campus or partner university and there shall be no continuation nor reinstatement of scholarship upon returning to the Malaysia campus. C Additional Clauses for Financial Hardship Scholarship 1. Applicants must meet the application criteria stated below: a) Financial Hardship Scholarship applicants must possess excellent academic result, i.e. minimum Grade A or 70% average in the academic year b) Applicants must provide written proof of financial hardship and supporting documents. 2. The scholarship recipients must achieve the set academic progression criteria yearly for the entire duration of study failing which, the scholarship will be revoked with immediate effect and there shall be no continuation nor reinstatement of the scholarship thereafter. 3. In the event that a scholarship recipient discontinues studies (without completing the programme), the scholarship will be revoked with immediate effect. D Additional Clauses for Data Futures /WISE 1. The scholarship recipients must achieve Grade A i.e. 70% average in the academic year and the entire duration of study failing which, the scholarship will be revoked with immediate effect and there shall be no continuation nor reinstatement thereafter.
