10 Year College Vision Statement 2015-2025 (first published May 2015) The vision statement below was created in Feb 2015 to provide a 10 year descriptive “road-map” for the College. During the last 4 years, good progress has been made in all four sub-sections of the vision statement, but, due to recent changes in government policy, progress has been slower than we would have liked in relation to Bii; nevertheless, we have seen some recent growth in enrolments to Access to HE courses and we are anticipating a modest increase in recruitment to our apprenticeship programmes in the next 2-3 years. The future prospects for HE are less certain; the Augar report has been published, but the government have not yet committed to implementing its recommendations. In relation to Di, most of our classrooms are now in good/excellent condition, but a small number are not. We will therefore continue to look for ways in which we can provide good/excellent facilities in all curriculum areas within the next 5 years. A. CORE BUSINESS i. To be a thriving inclusive College, meeting the needs of its local community and the wider economy. ii. To further extend our national reputation for excellence in TLAS (Teaching, Learning, Assessment and Support). iii. To deliver exceptionally high quality education and training, in which students’ personal, social and employability skills are also developed to a very high standard. B. PORTFOLIO & PERFORMANCE i. To be recognised as a centre of excellence in all curriculum areas, in particular in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM). ii. To significantly raise recruitment in Apprenticeships and HE/Access to HE provision. iii. To maintain very high satisfaction levels for all key stakeholders (including learners, employers and staff). iv. To maintain consistently robust financial health, in which all main business areas of the College each make a positive annual nett contribution to College finances. C. ORGANISATIONAL CULTURE i. To retain a strong constancy of purpose, forever guided by our vision, mission and values. ii. To recruit, retain and develop dedicated, effective and innovative staff at all levels - delivering outstanding quality, improved business efficiency and exceptional customer service. iii. To advance equality of opportunity, health and wellbeing, and respect and togetherness for all. iv. To continue to be a great place to work with a very strong emphasis on teamwork and support. v. To continue to be a highly ethical organisation – a College that always seeks “to do the right things, in the right way”. D. ESTATES AND FACILITIES i. To have high quality, sustainable buildings and facilities in all areas, and on all sites. ii. To improve efficiency and student experience by operating from an optimum number of main sites (in 2015, the optimum number of main sites was considered to be two). iii. To develop a local/national reputation for the effective use of technology to enhance learning and/or business efficiency. HIGH LEVEL COLLEGE GOALS 2019/20 The College’s high level strategy is to meet the needs of its community and to be a fantastic place to study, and a fantastic place to work. For the year ahead, we have identified three key priorities for the College as a whole 1. Complete the journey to “excellence everywhere” by Summer 2020; this will require further improvements to the quality of provision in schools/programmes which are currently self-assessing as grade 2 (good); 2. Continue to hit all of our key (“road map”) financial targets; this will require: a) healthy recruitment on all programmes; b) some further efficiencies in our operating costs/practices; 3. Be fully prepared to deliver T-levels from September 2020.
