Conference Keynote Cultural Humility and Physical Therapy in Minnesota Saturday, April 24, 2021 8-10am via Zoom Elora Koepcke Henry Lozano Ethan Capers Jeanne Lojovich PT, DPT PT, DPT PT, DPT PT, PhD This keynote lecture and discussion will give the APTA Minnesota community a springboard to understand, act, and implement change focused on improving the diversity, equity, and inclusion of the underrepresented minorities in our clinics, schools, and places where physical therapy is delivered or learned. The panel will present their stories, perspectives, experiences, and make research-based suggestions to begin eliminating this disparity in the Minnesota physical therapy profession. This course will include breakout sessions on bene ts to my practice, promoting diversity and inclusivity in your PT practice, and health care inequality. Congenital Muscular Torticollis Evaluation and Treatment using the APTA CPG Therese O’Bright, PT, DPT, Board Certi ed Pediatric Clinical Specialist; and Julie Hause, PT, DPT, Board Certi ed Pediatric Clinical Specialist The APTA has recently published the updated version of the Clinical practice guideline on congenital muscular torticollis. This course will provide insight into the interpretation and application of the torticollis CPG in a busy Clinic environment. Topics will include the use of different measurement techniques; assessment of head shape; completing a systems review; education including positioning and prevention; and cranial deformation as it relates to torticollis. A review of how the clinical practice guideline was implemented in a diverse clinic environment and our outcomes. Best Practices for Integrated are in Dystonia Rebekah Summers, PT, DPT, PhD and Stephanie Standal, MD Dystonia is a heterogeneous and commonly misdiagnosed and misunderstood disorder. This course will present the latest review of the pathology leading to the presentation of dystonia, examining the phenotypes and clinical presentation. We will explore the key action statements and research recommendations highlighted in the CPG with an emphasis on knowledge translation into clinical practice. What DIDN’T You Tear? Managing the Multi-ligament Knee Injury from Surgery to Sport Jill Monson, PT, OCS; Dr. Robert F. I will empower you to try something different with patients with pelvic oor symptoms. We’ll review common pelvic oor issues so you can notice when a patient needs help. ICU Recovery Program: Addressing Post-Intensive Care Syndrome Emily Schmitt, MOT, OTR/L The interdisciplinary team continues to learn about the long-term sequellae of critical illness. With this increased information, we continue to explore ways to prevent, identify, and treat these issues, collectively known as post-intensive care syndrome. Practice guidelines for follow-up care continue to be in development, but Post-ICU follow-up clinics are on the rise. What do follow-up clinics do for patients? What does this mean for PT practitioners? How can we best help ICU survivors with long term functional outcomes? How has COVID-19 changed the landscape of Post-ICU follow-up? Kicking Cancer: Understanding CAR-T Cell Therapy for Acute Physical Therapy Shanna Britt, PT, DPT This course will cover a review of basic immune system and immunotherapy principles in relation to CAR T-Cell therapy. The mechanism, side effects and therapy implications of CAR T-Cell therapy will be discussed. Diagnoses that are FDA approved for CAR T-Cell therapy will be reviewed. Clinical Practice Guideline for the Examination and Intervention of Clients with Heart Failure Kristin Lefebvre, PT, PhD, CCS The subject matter of this session will include an update on the CPG titled Physical Therapy for Adults Following Acute Exacerbation of Chronic Heart Failure published in Physical Therapy Fall 2019. In this session, the presentation will include results uncovered following critical appraisal of the literature on appropriate interventions for patients across the continuum of care. We will discuss the current standards of practice and present three case studies of patients that re ect appropriate interventions. fl
