Important information & reminders
Registrations for semester 2
• Registrations for semester 2 of afterschool activities will open on Monday, December 12 at 6 p.m. and close on Monday, January 23, at 8 p.m.
• Once registrations are closed, we might cancel some activities with not enough children registered.
• Families impacted by a canceled activity will be automatically notified and reimbursed. They will have the possibility to register for another activity, starting Tuesday,
  January 24 at 2 p.m. until Friday, January 27 at 8 p.m.
• To double-check confirmed activities for your child(ren), please connect to Focus.

Occasional registrations
In order to help you to work around your family’s schedule, you can register your child on an as-needed basis for one or a few days of study hall or aftercare provided there
is space in the requested slot. There is a flat fee of $30 per session. Please inform the After-School team at least 24 hours in advance at afterschool@theEcole.org and we
will be happy to accommodate you if possible.

Activities on 2nd slot and aftercare: Nursery to 8th Grade
• As a reminder, if you register your child for an After-School Activity during the second slot, or for aftercare, and you do not intend to pick up your child at the end of
  the school day, you also need to select an activity for the previous slots (including Study Hall).
• This does not apply for Individual Music Lessons (1st to 8th Grade) that last 30 minutes: aftercare will be provided for the half hour before or after the lesson.

Schedule
There is no After-School on days when there is no school (including holidays, In-Service and PTC days).

Important information & reminders
Snack
The school provides a snack for children before the after-school activities start. Parents may also provide their own if they prefer.

Pick-Up
Please consult this brochure for start and finish times and make sure to be on time to pick-up your children.
• Lateness Fee for After-School Pick-Up: children must be picked up promptly at the end time specified for their activities. Due to the need to compensate staff
  who wait with children who are picked up late, there will be a charge for late pickup in the amount of $20 per every full or partial quarter of an hour late starting
  next week.
• Pick-Up Points:
      • Maternelle Building: Pre-Nursery on the 2nd floor, Nursery, PreK and Kindergarten on the 5th Floor.
      • Attention! After 5:45 p.m. Nursery to Kindergarten pick-up is at the Elementary & Middle School Building.
      • Elementary & Middle School Building: Grades 1 to 8 in the Lobby.

Sport-based activities
Children who do sport-based after-school activities should wear their PE uniform to school or bring it in their bag to change at school.
• Taekwondo: equipment is provided by the school.
• Fencing: equipment is provided by the school.
• Soccer with FFF (1st-5th Grade): a jersey will be provided by FFF, but for the start, children should come to school wearing their PE uniform. Please remember
  only rubber cleats are permitted: no metal spike shoes or cleats.
• Tennis: rackets are provided. Children in 1st to 8th Grades can bring their own racket if they prefer.

Music Lessons
• Individual Music Lessons last 30 minutes: aftercare will be provided for the half hour before or after the lesson.
• For all music classes (individual or group), unless instructed by the teacher, there is no need to bring instruments, they will be provided by the school.

Welcome to Arty Crafty! In this workshop, the youngest ones will learn to create and share through Arts & Crafts. Join us for a fresh, colorful, and engaging activity!

Bee Happy Club with Lucie Assogba – Nursery only – en français                      NEW!
In this activity, children will navigate a Montessori approach to pretend play, imagination, and fantasy. Children individually create a personalized plan based on their
strengths and interests and choose their own learning activities within different play areas in the classroom. Creativity and curiosity are encouraged, as knowledge is
internalized in a self-paced and natural way.

Le Petit Atelier with Madelia Bergeroo – Nursery only – en français                   NEW!
Reggio-Emilia inspired, young students, will continue to engage and interact in French through a lot of collaborative, hands-on artistic activities (songs, games,
movements, and sensory-based / art and craft activities). French children's literature will also have a central place in this class.

Les Marionettes de Lucie with Lucie Assogba – Nursery only – en français                      NEW!
In this workshop, stories will be told by puppets. This allows children to understand and reformulate the stories narrative and framework, with their own words. Students will
be amazed by Les Marionettes de Lucie, as they will travel from the real to the imaginary world and will freely manipulate puppets.

Arts with Jen King, in English
Be creative with Jen! During her artistic workshops, Jen will explore with the children the different techniques and media that will develop their creativity and dexterity. Our
little artists will frequently bring their works home to show them to their parents, and an exhibition will close the semester.

Ballet with Emilie Aguerre, in English
This class will give your little dancer a basic introduction to ballet steps and positions, while enhancing their motor skills and coordination with fun exercises in music
qualities and rhythms, story-telling with movement, and free dance with various props. Introduce your little dancer to the beautiful art of ballet!

Basketball with Ben Hayes, in English & en français               NEW!
Learn how to play basketball with Ben! Pass, dribble, shoot, score! Kids will exercise and pick up the skills to play basketball.

Chefs for Kids with Chefs for Impact - PreK and Kindergarten only - in English
Through growing, cooking, taste testing, and composting, the Chefs For Kids program transforms students' relationship with food & demonstrates how eating healthy can
be fun, tasty, and good for the environment. This hands-on program hosted by rotating guests such as esteemed chefs, farmers, & artists, exposes students to where & how

Join Yuna's Choir! As an opera singer, Yuna will direct the children, teaching them to sing together, to listen to each other, and will share with them her passion and her

A hands-on program to develop kids' understanding of nature through our incredible gardening program, designed to connect kids to healthy eating habits. Children will
learn about both natural food cycles as well as urban farming techniques. They will grow their own vegetables and understand nutrition basics and their effects on the body
while designing and developing both single-source indoor gardens and well-closed-loop replenishment farming systems.

Goûter Gourmand ! with Lucie Assogba, en français
I'm hungry! With Lucie children will learn to prepare simple but delicious recipes. Budding cooks will have fun and discover the proportions and chemistry of ingredients….

This is a fun, interactive introduction to chess for young children through stories and games. Students will learn about the pieces and rules of the game. There will also be
the opportunity to participate in an interscholastic tournament at the end of the semester. Recommended for students who have little or no knowledge of chess.

Little Ecologists is a French after-school program that reconnects kids to nature and celebrate the Earth. We empower children to develop eco-friendly habits, to further
their critical thinking and social integration, and to stimulate their creative faculties. Students will learn how to care for the environment while having fun. They will develop
strong environmental awareness and take active steps for a better planet.

Math Games & Activities with Yuna Kwon - PreK and Kindergarten only - in English
Improve your child's fundamental math skills with our fun Math Games & Activities class! In our Math Games & Activities class, the children will develop their mathematical
thoughts through engaged conversations and activities. Introducing simple math concepts, such as sorting, finding patterns, or counting up to 100 will offer the children a

Raconte-moi une histoire is designed to help children ages 3 to 5 organize and tell a story. This will allow them to discover different worlds, real or imaginary, and to acquire
a varied vocabulary. Since books are an excellent stimulation tool for children, this activity will give them a taste for reading.

Soccer with Soccer Shots, in English
Children learn the basic fundamentals of soccer in a fun environment of games and challenges.

Taekwondo with Nir Moriah, in English
Join Nir and learn Taekwondo! This Korean martial art focuses on speed and agility. Students will learn to be disciplined and temper their minds to engage in this athletic and
fast paced Olympic sport. The program will focus on developing an explosive stillness, teaching students to be both patient and action oriented. They will train in
techniques and ancient rituals that develop gross motor skills, rhythm and prowess.

Team Sports with Ben Hayes, in English & en français
Join Ben Hayes and get ready to run, jump, and exercise in a variety of sports and activities!

Architecture for Kids with Swan Kids, in English                NEW!
A fun introduction to the tools and strategies of architects. Kids learn the foundational principles of architecture and construction and design their own buildings, bridges, and then cities. The goal is
to teach kids about structural engineering and its components in the development of modern cities.

Arts with Bridget Germain, in English
Through hands-on art projects, students will develop their artistic skills, imagination, and confidence. Projects are developed to promote expression and independence, while enabling students to
creatively communicate and express themselves through the wonderful world of art. This unique learning experience emphasizes a variety of media including painting, drawing, collage, printing, and
more!

Atelier Créatif de Théâtre with Aurélien Dutier, en français
During this theatrical creative workshop, Aurélien will lead the students to discover the process of creation in theater, namely writing, acting, and staging. By creating their own play, the children will
work on all the facets of theater: they will learn to collaborate and will be led to be empowered.

Basketball with Swan Kids, in English             NEW!
A comprehensive look at this incredible sport, through skill development, strategy and team dynamics, sports specific training all layered with a fun physical game experience!
We focus on bustling the basics: ball handling, passing, court strategy and positioning, shooting (mid and long range), short range drives as well as defense, rebounding training. Our goal for us is to
instill a love of the game, muscle memory, agility and coordination alongside team mentality and leadership habits!

Chess Level 1 with Growing Minds, in English
This class will review piece movement and familiarize / solidify students' knowledge of basic chess rules. Students will also build a foundation in tactics, critical thinking and pattern recognition. They
will also be introduced to openings and the key ideas of the beginning stage of the game. Students will have the opportunity to participate in an interscholastic tournament at the end of the semester.
Recommended for students who have some basic knowledge of chess.

Come play with clay! Students will be introduced to a variety of clays and will roll, mold, sculpt and build while they are guided through a wide range of fun and inspiring projects.

Creative Filmmaking with CinemaKidz, in English                      NEW!
Lights, Camera, Action! Become a Director, Actor, Cinematographer, and Editor. Using professional equipment and technology, kids will work together and learn how to use cameras, audio
equipment, and editing software, while creating completely original video projects. They will get creative as they try their hand at various special effects techniques: building props, combining
claymation and live action video, experimenting with the potential of green screens, practicing various camera tricks, utilizing stock videos, video filters and much more! Participants will learn how to
make movies from start to finish as they plan, write, film, act in, and edit an original project together.

Discover Arabic with Fawzia Mohamed
The Arabic Language is one of the six official languages of the United Nations and is spoken by over 400 million people around the world. The students will learn how to read and write the Arabic
alphabet (Arabic Calligraphy), make conversations, and learn about Arab Culture through songs, dances, and food.

Discover Mandarin with Manhattan Mandarin
This activity will focus on Mandarin conversational skills and cultural activities.

Discover Spanish with Alexandra Valencia
This activity will focus on conversational Spanish skills and cultural activities.

Drone Pilots with Swan Kids, in English                NEW!
This activity runs on a STEM curriculum that focuses on giving kids an exciting introduction to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Modeled after the training air force pilots undergo, this
class takes kids through an exciting obstacle course as they pilot their Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (AKA The Drone) while learning all the science behind flight, communication and observation skills.

Explore Photography with CinemaKidz, in English
Explore the world around you through the lens of a camera! In this interactive course, children will learn to utilize both automatic and manual DSLR cameras, while practicing various still photography
techniques. Each class focuses on a specific fun activity or challenge, which may include exploring outdoor photography, using light boxes and graphic design programs to create an ad for something
they love, taking photos of their friends in the CK indoor studio, long exposure photography, and much more! Creativity and technology come together in this class for a truly fun learning
experience. The class will culminate in a photography show to celebrate!

Fencing with Manhattan Fencing, in English
This program is designed for beginner, intermediate, and competitive fencers in foil. No experience necessary! The program includes fitness instruction, games, skill training, tactics/strategy,
competitive bouts, and more. Fencing develops discipline, balance, coordination, quick reflexes, mental acuity, and good sportsmanship. Equipment is provided.

Guitar Group Class with Willan Academy of Music, in English                     NEW!
Students will learn the basics of playing the guitar such as how to hold their instruments and how to pluck a single string with a pick. Students will also learn to strum various chords to accompany
themselves to sing traditional and current songs! This class also introduces basic music theories, such as note reading.

Gymnastics & Tumbling with Swan Kids, in English
This class combines acrobatics and yoga into a curriculum that develops kids into agile and flexible adults, as well as providing good rhythm and movement that can be translated to almost any
physical activity. In this beginner class, children will be introduced to fundamentals such as cartwheels, handstands, bridges, etc. while gaining strength, flexibility, and kinesthetic awareness!

This French immersion and project workshop is designed for students in 1st and 2nd Grade. Students will discover French famous, old and contemporary children's literature, through a project-based
lens. Students will explore a book or a story for few weeks, will focus on the characters, the structure, and the meaning. And then, they will work on different projects related to some elements of the
book. Projects could be Cooking, STEM, or Arts!

Music Production & Podcasting with CinemaKidz, in English                      NEW!
In this special two-part media class, children will explore the world of digital music, sound editing, and storytelling. First, after discussing the FUN-damentals of music theory, participants will produce
their very own song using computers, mics, synthesizers, groove boxes, and other audio equipment. In Part two, we will turn to the art of storytelling as kids plan, record, build, and edit their very own
short Podcast show. Children will learn the art of interviewing, gathering resources and researching topics, and putting it all together into a cohesive story and audial landscape.

Piano Group Class with Willan Academy of Music, in English                       NEW!
Discover the greatness of piano and music through fun activities and games. Students will learn the fundamentals of playing the piano; good posture, note names, white keys and black keys, and
position of the hand. Students will also learn to play fun tunes as well as basic music theories, such as note reading.

Puppetry & Skits with CinemaKidz, in English                 NEW!
This workshop is all about creative building, storytelling, and working together to make a TV Show! Think projects range from The Dark Crystal to Sesame Street! Children explore different
puppetry styles, creating several exciting puppets of their own, and learn to bring their character to life with basic puppet manipulation, voice acting, and interactive storytelling! They will learn how
important working together is when they help one another create a scene and bring their puppets to life in a series of short skits. Participants will experiment with various creative techniques to film
these skits, using green screens and stop motion to name a few. Finally, they will help edit the project to complete several episodes, and after production wraps, children will take home their puppets.

Robotics with Swan Kids, in English
This class inspires children to connect with the fun and approachable side of science by teaching them to create robots, assemble drones, and design race cars and other machines of their own
design. A very interactive course that takes kids through the basics of robotic construction/design, circuit building, alternative energy sources and engineering.

Scratch Coding with The Coder School, in English                     NEW!
Scratch is a visual programming language that allows students to create their own interactive stories, games and animations. As students design Scratch projects, they learn to think creatively, reason
systematically, and work collaboratively. This activity does not require any prerequisite and is designed for beginners and intermediate skill level.

Soccer with French Football Academy (FFF), en français
This after-school activity consists of 80-minutes sessions with the FFF coaches. For the 2nd semester, sessions will be held mainly indoors at our Elementary and Middle School Building (in the
Lower Level MPR and in Le Préau) and outdoors when weather permits (location to be confirmed - the field will be within 15-20 minutes walking distance from the school, and sessions will last 60
minutes). This activity lasts 2 slots. During these sessions the coach will follow the 5 step-approach developed by the FFF and the French Ministry of Education. Focusing on drills to improve the
children's skills, the coach will start with warm up and exercises with or without the ball, followed by a focus on ball skills to develop the children’s skills individually and as a team. They will end the
sessions with a game.

Tae Kwon Do with Nir Moriah, in English
Join Nir and learn Taekwondo! This Korean martial art focuses on speed and agility. Students will learn to be disciplined and temper their minds to engage in this athletic and fast paced Olympic
sport. The program will focus on developing a spirit of perseverance and deep focus, while students conduct athletic drills, challenge simulations and develop techniques and skills.

Tennis with Tennis Innovators, in English
Tennis Innovators will introduce players to all of the tennis strokes and connect them to specific footwork and body mechanics. Players will play in both cooperative and competitive drills and games

Soccer with French Football Academy (FFF), in French
This after-school activity consists of 80-minutes sessions with the FFF coaches. For the 2nd semester, sessions will be held mainly indoors at our Elementary and Middle School Building (in the Lower
Level MPR and in Le Préau) and outdoors when weather permits (location to be confirmed - the field will be within 15-20 minutes walking distance from the school, and sessions will last 60 minutes).
This activity lasts 2 slots. During these sessions the coach will follow the 5 step-approach developed by the FFF and the French Ministry of Education. Focusing on drills to improve the children's
skills, the coach will start with warm up and exercises with or without the ball, followed by a focus on ball skills to develop the children’s skills individually and as a team. They will end the sessions with
a game.
