THE TRUST S.N.R. Sons Charitable Trust was founded on 9th February 1970 in order to fulfill the dreams of a great philanthropist and visionary Sri.S.N.Rangaswamy Naidu by his four sons, Late Sri. S.N.R. Chinnasamy Naidu Late Prof. P.R. Ramaswami Naidu (Former Principal, GCT) Late Sri R. Doraiswami Naidu Late Dr. R. Venkatesalu Naidu Sri S.N.Rangaswamy Naidu was an ardent devotee of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. He was interested in mankind and wanted to eradicate ignorance and disease by providing education and medical facilities to the poor, the weak and the needy. His sons dedicated themselves to the task of fulfilling their father's aspiration by establishing Sri Ramakrishna Kalyana Mandapam, a community hall meant for religious discourses, seminars, conferences and other intellectual activities. ABOUT THE INSTITUTION Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, established in the year 1994 by SNR Sons Charitable Trust, is an autonomous institution offering ten undergraduate programmes,eight post graduate programmes in engineering and technology in addition to MBA. The institution caters to 4400+ students passionately mentored by 279 dedicated members of faculty. The campus is located in sprawling 42 acres, land with built up area of 1,71,001.34 Sq.mtr. Seven undergraduate programmes are accredited and reaccredited by National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi, since 2003. Being an autonomous institution the curricula and syllabi have been developed with interdisciplinary approach taking inputs from industries, premier academic institutions and R&D establishments by having them in the industry advisory board, alumni interactive cell and board of studies. The academic regulations follow Choice Based Credit System with open electives, industry based one credit courses to prepare the students to the industry expectations making them better employable and deployable to the various projects. The institution enhances research culture resulting in 93 faculty members holding Ph.Ds.,with 112 pursuing Ph.D. During the academic year 2018-2019, 131 research papers have been published and research funding to the tune of INR 2 crores have been obtained from the funding agencies. The vision of the institution is to become one of the best industry linked institutions. MoUs' have been signed with organizations in different domains for student internships, faculty immersion, consultancy and sponsored research. NVIDIA the world wide leader in visual computing has recognized the institution as GPU centre for CUDA and parallel programming. The institution has been recognized as one of the lead zonal partners in the country in AI/Deep Learning, skilling and research a collaborative initiative of NVIIDA and Bennett University, Noida. 9
The centre for innovation nurtures creativity, innovation and out of the box thinking, facilitating innovative solutions for industry problems. The institution also has signed MoU with the University of Hertfordshire, UK for research collaborations, summer school programmes and semester aboard. The MoU with University of Cambridge though Cambridge English Language Assessment facilitates all the students in skill development, faculty development of English language, learning resources including digital learning. The vision of the institution is to bring out engineering graduates who are ready to face the professional challenges with high learnability to serve the society practising ethical values. 10

CAMPUS FACILITIES BOOK DEPOT A well-stocked book depot caters to the stationery requirements of both staff and students. Anything from an eraser to sophisticated engineering equipment is on sale here at affordable prices. TRANSPORT The college has a fleet of 30 buses that ply from vantage points in and around Coimbatore to the campus and back to facilitate comfortable commuting for both students and staff. The buses are manned by drivers who are well experienced and trained in safe driving practices. MEDICAL FACILITIES A fully functional Health Centre with a residential doctor is in place to offer medical care for minor ailments and first aid. In case of emergency, students will be taken to Sri Ramakrishna Hospital for treatment through an ambulance service that is available 24/7. BANK On-campus banking is available through the extension counter of the South Indian Bank every Tuesday and Friday. An ATM is also situated in the college premises. RENEWABLE ENERGY Solar panels of capacity 52.8 kW have been installed at a total cost of Rs.64 lakhs for the welfare of students. CAREER DEVELOPMENT AND PLACEMENT DIVISION The institution offers an excellent environment for professionaldevelopment. The well established career development and placement division ensures proper training to every student based on their option for a placement or pursue higher education or Entrepreneurial initiatives. The division nurtures industry institution interaction through in plant training, internship andprojects of industrial relevance. PHYSICAL EDUCATION Our college has excellent infrastructure for sports and games with one of the best athletic grounds. Our facility includes 4 Ball badminton Courts, Basketball Concrete Court, Football Field, Handball Court, 4 Volleyball Courts, 400 Meters Athletic Track, In addition a Fitness Centre is available with Motorized Tread Mill, Cycling Machine, Massager, Multi Bench Press, Dumbbells, Rubber Plates and Multi gym for students to keep themselves fit physically. TOURNAMENTS Sri. SNR CHINNASAMY NAIDU MEMORIAL Trophy is instituted for the students as Inter Engineering Collegiate Tournament. 12
Sri. SN RANGASAMY NAIDU MEMORIAL Trophy is instituted for the Inter Engineering Collegiate Staff for Ball Badminton. PARENTS MEETING, GUIDANCE & COUNSELLING The students are guided and counseled by our Academic Coordinators and tutors. Each tutor is incharge of 20 students. The tutor meets his/her wards once in a week to have a good rapport with the students. Students'academic performances are reported in the form of progress report to the parents through Academic Co-ordinators in order to keep them informed of the progress and regularity of their children. Parents' meeting is conducted every year during July/August to brief them on the overall institutional development, and career counseling of their wards. FOOD COURT A multi cuisine food court has been set up in the campus where variety of dishes are being served under one roof with various counters like Cafe Lounge, Indo Chinese and South Indian. BUREAU OF OVERSEAS EDUCATION (BOE) The Bureau of Overseas Education (BOE) has been constantly involved in organizing and conducting awareness sessions for GRE, TOEFL and IELTS examinations for the benefit of the students. Inhouse training classes are conducted for GRE, ToEFL, IELTS, etc. It also facilitates admissions in Universities of USA, UK, Canada, Newzealand and Australia. A Global Hub has been established at our Institution in collaboration with Career Zone Pvt Ltd, Coimbatore to provide various services for the students aspiring for higher education abroad. WOMEN EMPOWERMENT CELL (WEC) The Women Empowerment Cell (WEC) provides a platform to improve and empower women by sharing their experiences and views regarding professional development,women empowerment, and social responsibilities. CAMBRIDGE ENGLISH LANGUAGE ASSESSMENT CENTRE (CELAC) The authorized Cambridge English Language Assessment Centre (CELAC) functions with the help of nine faculty members of the Department of English who are dedicated, well qualified, industrious and resourceful. All the faculty members are BEC exam trainers and ably train the students for the Cambridge exams. The Centre is supported with fully equipped Computer Laboratories with updated software and a self-sufficient Training Hall. We have been a preparatory Centre from the year 2016. Around 2432 students and 281 faculty members of our Institution have cleared BEC Exams successfully. Our centre is an open centre and all schools, colleges and corporate companies could approach our centre to take up suitable Cambridge Examinations. 13

Students are not permitted to go out during the college hours without prior permission of the Principal. 2. Application for leave on prescribed format (Leave Form) signed by the student, parent/warden shall be submitted on the previous day personally to the Tutor concerned / HoD for prior permission. 3. Leave letter submitted after availing leave should be signed by the parents/guardian indicating the reasons. 4. Student will not be permitted to appear for the End Semester Examination, if his/her attendance is below 75%. Maximum limits of duty leave exemption to a candidate during a semester is limited to 10 % of the required attendance in that semester. Fee Payment The Tuition and Special fees for every Semester and University Examination fees should be paid on or before the last date announced. Names of those who do not pay the tuition fees on or before the last date will be removed from the rolls. The Principal may consider re-admission of such students as per his discretion after paying a re-admission fee of Rs.250/-. The Tuition Fee and Special Fee once paid will not be refunded. Discipline 1. Driving of power vehicle without valid license is an offence. Students should wear helmet while driving vehicle. 2. Use of cell phones inside the college premises is not allowed. 3. Students should be in the class before the teacher enters. 4. Strict Discipline must be practised in the classroom during class hours. 5. Students must conduct themselves in such a way as not to bring discredit to the collegeor to themselves. 6. Students should come neat and smart to the college. Boys should tuck in their shirts and wear shoes, T-shirts of any form are not permitted.Shirts 21
with captions/psychedelic colours are not permitted. Girls can wear sarees orchuridhar with duppatta. They are expected to be in their full uniform when they are inworkshops and laboratories. 7. Each student should possess the identity card duly signed by the principal. The card will be issued to them immediately after admission to the college. They are expected to have their identity card with lanyard always with them. 8. They must conform to the standards and modesty maintained by the institution. 9. They should not indulge in any untoward activities. 10. They should take care of the college property and help in keeping thepremises neat and clean. 11. Students should avoid anything by word or deed that may disturb the unity and harmony of life not only in college and hostel but alsooutside the campus. 12. Students are expected to read the Notice Board everyday. 13. Students should park their vehicles in the space meant for parking andthey are not allowed to drive their vehicle inside the campus. 14. Ragging is strictly prohibited and any student who is found guilty ofsuch crime will beexpelled from the college immediately. 15. Students are forbidden from organizing any meeting in the college orcollecting money without the permission of the Principal. 16. Severe action will be taken against the students who indulge in orencourage religious activities in the college premises. No student shall take part in any political activity. 17. Students are responsible for their belongings. The college will not beresponsible for loss of personal belongings/money. 18. Any article found in the premises should be handed over to the office with relevant details. 19. Internal Assessment Marks will be awarded to the students based onthe performance in Internal Tests and Attendance as per the regulations. HOLIDAYS declared by the Tamil Nadu Government are declared holidays for the College. Library Rules Library Timings Monday to Friday - 8.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. Satudays from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm Sundays from 9.00 am to 3.30 pm 1. The library is opened from 8.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. on all working days except Government holidays. 22
2. Silence should be maintained in the library. 3. If books are not returned on the due date, a fine of Re. 1/- per day will be collected. 4. Students should take care of the books without causing damage of any kind like folding or underlining with a pen or pencil or tearing of pages. 5. In case of loss of a book, the student will have to bear the responsibility for replacing with a new one, and if the book is not available, 5 times of the actual cost of the book will be collected. 6. Book Borrowing Eligibility UG : 6 Books PG : 6 Books MBA : 5 Books ( Top three meritorious students of all UG and PG classes are given privilege to borrow an additional book from the library) 7. Students should register their names using ID cards in the computer kept at the entry counter before entering the library. 8. Students ID cards are not transferable. 9. Reference books and Journals/Magazines are issued for reference for a maximum period of three days. 10. The librarian may recall any book from any member at any time and the member shall return the same immediately. ANTI RAGGING The University Grants Commission vide its letter no F.1-16/2007 (CPP-II) dated June 17, 2009 has reiterated the ban on ragging of students in Institutions of Higher Learning. The students are therefore directed to strictly desist from any kind of ragging. Forms of Ragging : Display of noisy, disorderly conduct, teasing, excitement by rough or rude treatment or handling, including rowdy, undisciplined activities which cause or likely to cause annoyance, undue hardship, physical or psychological harm or raise apprehensive fear in a fresher, or asking the students to do any act or perform something which such a student will not do in the ordinary course and which causes him/her shame or embarrassment or danger to his/her life, etc. Punishment for Participation in/or Abetment of Ragging : 1. Cancellation of admission. 2. Suspension from attending classes. 3. Withholding/withdrawing scholarship/fellowship and other benefits. 4. Debarring from appearing in any test/examination or other evaluation process. 23
5. Withholding results. 6. Debarring from representing the institution in any national or international meet, tournament, youth festival, etc. 7. Suspension/expulsion from the hostel 8. Rustication from the institution for periods varying from 1 to 4 semesters or equivalent period. 9. Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution. 10 Fine up to Rs. 25,000/- As per Govt. orders our institute will take very severe action against those indulging in any form of ragging. Hence students are strongly warned to desist from the despicable practice of ragging. AUTONOMOUS EXAMINATIONS The college is awarded academic Autonomy from the academic year 2007-08 onwards. Thus the college will conduct all the examinations, required for the award of degree independently. These are the few guidelines for students: D The Institute has adopted Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) from the academic year 2016-2017. D Semester examinations will be conducted in all the courses of all semesters both in November and April of the corresponding academic year. D A candidate will be eligible to register for the examination of any semester only if he/she puts in a minimum attendance percentage in that semester as per the regulations. D The assessment in theory courses comprises of both internal evaluation (sessional marks) and performance in the end semester examination as per the regulations. D Internal marks will be awarded on the basis of continuous evaluation made during the semester of study as per the guidelines. D Laboratory Courses including project work also comprises of internal evaluation (awarded on the basis of continuous evaluation made during the respective semester of study) and performance in the end semester examinations. D The institute follows absolute grading system for all assessments of courses including practical courses and project work. The grading and credit system will be as per the regulations. 24
