There’s a speech at the end to do with heartbreak, a beautiful bit of dialogue that just resonates. I had a good old weep. The first record I ever bought was... The Whole World by Outkast. I was 11 and really loved that track. I played it over and over. It’s not good for my image, but I like… not ironing. I don’t bother. Life’s too short. My greatest weakness is... chocolate. I try not to, but I’ll hoover up any kind. I’ve got into very dark chocolate with over 90 per cent cacao content. It’s very bitter. You feel like you’re doing something good, but you’re not – you’re just eating chocolate. If I could pass any law I would... make it illegal for the Government to allow people to be homeless. It’s a really big problem that’s getting worse. I drive... a space-grey Ford Fiesta. I also drive women wild. The shop I can’t walk past is... any natural wine shop. I love a crisp white wine. I went to Gavi in Italy this year and spent a lot on wine. The most expensive thing I’ve ever splashed out on is… I spent £320 on bedsheets with a 1,000 thread count. I didn’t realise it was going to be that expensive, but I’m so glad I spent it because it’s heaven in that bed. I don’t want to get out. My perfect Sunday is... a roast with the family, then a post-roast snooze in front of the fire and a cosy film. I’ve got a log burner and I’ve such a thirst for fire. I really like Disney films. At the minute, I’m rewatching them all – The Lion King, Mulan, Hercules. It’d be amazing to be a voice in one some day. I love Italian cinema and I love Italian wine. I sort of want to be Italian. My favourite place in Britain is... my mother’s garden in Birmingham – a calm and happy place. She’s quite experimental with her plants and loves her vistas. She opens it for the National Gardens Scheme every year to raise money for charity. Everyone says it’s one of the best they go to. My last holiday was… to an all-inclusive on the Greek island of Corfu. I turned off the phone, lay down next to the pool and ate and drank a lot. Bliss. I’m currently reading... Why Buddhism Is True by Robert Wright. I’m interested in mindfulness and stoicism and it’s more of a scientific look at the techniques of Buddhism and how effective they are. The best day of my life was... last summer. I had a really blissful day with my housemate Ben that just rolled on and on. We went to the pub, then for an Italian lunch, then to this fabulous bar. We met these cool dogs and got a tapas meal off a friend we bumped into. So many lovely things on a lovely day. If I had half an hour left on Earth I’d... If the world was going to explode, I’d say, “Let’s get a bottle in. Let’s get a Gavi.” ●S Joe hosts The Great British Sewing Bee on Tuesdays at 9pm on BBC2. She has also shown herself a good sport on Hell’s Kitchen and in A League Of Their Own and put her best foot forward to win the 11th series of Strictly Come Dancing with her partner Aljaž Škorjanec. Then there’s her Catwalk Collection of prams and highchairs with My Babiie, her previous sell-out Lipsy collection and her best-selling novel, Remember My Name. Yes, Abbey certainly proves there’s much more to her than just her model good looks. “I like work. It’s very important to me. It keeps me ‘me’ and keeps me focused,” she says. “It sets a good example for the kids, too. I feel like I’m at a time in my life where I want to focus on where I want to be and what I’m doing.” And she is clearly doing just that. Abbey’s next Lipsy collection is already in the works and there are a few TV projects coming up, too, which are currently top secret. There is always room for more, though, as far as Abbey is concerned, and with her own brood growing she fancies doing something for children. “My two girls are obsessed with clothes and fashion,” she reveals. “It’s not something I’ve drilled into them, it’s just the way they are. Designing a kids’ range would be great and having their help to inspire me would be a good thing.” It sounds like a hectic life for Abbey right now, but she wouldn’t have it any other way. And besides, there’s nothing that a good pampering won’t sort out. “Paul Edmonds in London is literally a spa,” she says. “It’s a sanctuary where you can get your hair and nails done and get a facial, too. Sophia’s really into face masks, massages and hair treatments right now so we do that at home together on a Friday. She wants a pamper party for her birthday in March.” ● S Abbey Clancy x Lipsy is available from Thursday at next.co.uk/lipsy. 27
