06 | A Guide to Vitality The Vitality programme Understanding Your Health The first step is understanding how healthy you already are with an online Health Review. And, to understand your health further, you could get a free Vitality Healthcheck. You’ll also get started with a Bronze Vitality status. Your status increases as you do healthy things. Engage Your Health We’ll help you get healthier by supporting you when you eat well, get active and stop smoking. Through our partners, you can get discounts on healthy things like gym membership and fitness equipment plus bonus Nectar points when you buy certain healthy foods. And when you do healthy things, we give you points and these will count towards your Vitality status. Intelligent Incentives Getting healthy takes a bit of time and effort. So, to keep you motivated, we give you incentives for doing it. We’ve chosen incentives that help you rest, relax and live life well. They range from the everyday to the extraordinary. Through our partners we give you cash back on tickets to concerts, sporting events and West End shows. You can even get discounts on family holidays. The higher your Vitality status, the bigger the rewards. We give you cash back when you do healthy things We think the healthier our members are the more they should be rewarded. For members with Personal Healthcare plans, we reward you when all the adults on your plan are non-smokers, subject to each adult taking a Vitality Healthcheck. For members on Business Healthcare plans, we reward the principal member of the plan when they are a non-smoker, subject to a Vitality Healthcheck. And if you’re ill, you’ll have peace of mind that you’ll get access to the best possible medical care Through our health insurance, if you get ill and need treatment, we’ll make sure you get the best possible medical care. We give you access to the latest drugs and treatments that are covered on your plan. And when we say Full Cover, we mean it. You won’t just get looked after when you’re in hospital. We help you track your progress When you do healthy things, we give you points and these count towards your Vitality status. To see your points adding up, all you need to do is visit pruhealth.co.uk and log on to the Member Zone. As you earn points, your Vitality status increases. Everyone starts at Bronze, then you can work up to Silver, Gold and finally Platinum. A Guide to Vitality | 09 Understand Your Health The first step to getting healthier is understanding how healthy you already are. So, we get you started with an online Health Review. What’s involved First, we ask for some information about your health – anything from your height and weight to how you feel about exercise. Then, we use what you tell us to create a personal plan for you. Your plan explains the things you need to focus on to get healthier, starting with the most important. It’s easy to get to know your health numbers with the Vitality 1–2–3 process, you’ll get expert insight into your current health measures, as well as expert advice on how to get healthier. 1 Free Vitality Healthcheck Start by having a free Vitality Healthcheck to help you keep on top of your key health indicators including your blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose and body mass index (BMI). For Personal Healthcare plans one adult member on your plan can have a free Vitality Healthcheck every plan year. For Business Healthcare plans the principal member can have one free Vitality Healthcheck per plan year. All other adult members on your plan are eligible for a Vitality Healthcheck available at £15. 2 Expert advice from a Vitality GP After you’ve had your Vitality Healthcheck, and have the results of your key health indicators, you can get in touch with a Vitality GP if there’s something you’d like to discuss. You’ll get personal expert advice on what your results mean and the steps you can take to improve them. In some cases, if it’s necessary, the GP may refer you to have a full health screen with one of our partners, BMI Healthcare or Nuffield Health. 3 Half-price health screens You can get 50% off a range of health screens with our Vitality partners if you have been referred by a Vitality GP. For Business Healthcare plans with Vitality Plus, a GP referral is not required. A health screen can look at a wider range of indicators than a health check and gives you a more in-depth picture of your health. You’ll be able to talk to a healthcare professional about your results and get some guidance on how you can maintain a healthy lifestyle and reduce the risk of future health problems. 10 | A Guide to Vitality Long-term condition management programme If you’re identified as being at risk of or suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol you’ll be able to sign up to a programme to help manage your condition. You could even receive £100 to spend in LloydsPharmacy for taking part. The programme is run with our new Vitality partner, LloydsPharmacy and offers: • Reminders for check-ups and appointments • In-store monitoring e.g. blood pressure and cholesterol testing • Tailored nutrition and exercise programmes • £100 voucher to spend in LloydsPharmacy after you’ve taken part in the programme for 12 months Important information You will receive a £100 voucher to spend in LloydsPharmacy providing you meet the conditions of the programme for 12 months and still have a plan with us. Free fitness assessment with Virgin Active You can have a free fitness assessment at all Virgin Active clubs within our network. They are with a qualified fitness coach and take no more than half an hour. Plus you don’t need to be a member of the gym to have one. Just take your PruHealth membership card with you when you go along. Fitness assessments may vary depending on which gym you go to, but they all include: • A measurement of your weight and height to calculate your Body Mass Index (BMI) • A blood pressure reading • A fitness test (YMCA Step test) For more details on the Vitality points you can earn for health screens and fitness assessments, take a look at our points table in the back of this guide. Whether it’s getting down to our partner gym, Virgin Active, or getting out and about and exploring all the National Trust has to offer. We also make it easier and affordable to track your progress with things like a Fitbug or a Polar device. Get active 50% off monthly gym membership fees. A joining fee will apply With Virgin Active you can enjoy 50% off the cost of a monthly gym membership. You might be looking to improve your cardio on the treadmill. Perhaps you love swimming and can’t wait to dive in or perhaps you’re looking to join the Zumba revolution. Each time you go to the gym you’ll get 10 Vitality points when you swipe your membership card. You can earn up to a weekly maximum of 40 Vitality points for getting active. Important information • Flexible individual monthly membership. Joining fees are up to £50 for all clubs other than Classic Collection clubs, where joining fees are up to £150. This offer does not apply to Chiswick Riverside Virgin Active club. • Existing Virgin Active members can switch mid-contract but will have to pay a transfer fee of up to £150.
