2022 Owosso Speedway Pure Stocks Rules Stock means original OEM factory equipment. DRIVERS ARE TO REFERENCE OWOSSO SPEEDWAY GENERAL RULES IN ADDITION TO THE FOLLOWING: Note: Track does not express or imply any warranty of safety resulting from the publication of, or compliance with these rules and/or regulations. These rules are intended as a guide to conduct of this sport and are not in any way a guarantee against injury or death to any participant, spectator or official. The absence of a particular rule does not necessarily mean its approval. Any infraction of the rules may result in a weight penalty or not being able to race. Please contact the rules committee at williamsleesa@yahoo.com if you should have any questions. Track officials have final decision in all rules. 1. Safety: a. Helmet must be 2010 Snell standard or better and have sticker visible for inspection. Full- face helmet required. b. A capable form of head & neck restraint must be used. Neck Collars are allowed. c. Approved seat belts and double shoulder harness will be required, no older than 5 years. A crotch strap is required. d. SFI approved, clean, full driving suit, approved gloves and shoes for fire protection are mandatory. e. Driver’s side window must be equipped with safety net with quick release-latch. String window nets are not permitted. The minimum net size must be 22” wide and 16” high. When latched, the window net must fit and pull tight. f. Resilient padding designed for roll bar use must be installed on any roll cage member which can be reached by an extremity of the driver while the driver is normally seated with restraints fastened. Steering wheel must be padded. g. All lead weights must be painted white, with the car number painted on each individual piece. All lead weights must be securely fastened. No Tungsten or similar weight allowed. h. All competing teams must possess a working fire extinguisher while in attendance in pits. i. A main electric cut-off switch needs to be clearly marked and easily accessible to safety crews. Revision 12/20/2021 Page 1 of 5
j. A working Fire Suppression system or driver accessible fire extinguisher (minimum 5 lbs.) is required. k. Driver must be able to exit out either side of the car. l. Working fuel cell flapper valve is required. m. Fuel cap must be tethered. n. Hood and truck (deck lids) may only be secured with pins. o. Seats must be an aluminum high back racing seat. Right side head restraint is required. p. Westhold Transponder (Yellow or Orange) are required to be always used when car is on the track. q. Mirrors are not permitted. r. Rear windows may not be covered. Drivers must be able to see through the rear window. 2. Battery: a. Only one (1) battery is allowed. b. Battery must be mounted in the trunk with two (2) 1” metal straps. c. Battery must be securely mounted outside of driver’s compartment. d. 12-volt battery only. 3. Bodies: a. Only American made automobile with a minimum wheelbase of 108” is allowed. b. Alterations other than those stated in this rule book are not permitted. c. Front and rear bumpers are required to have functional wrecker hooks installed. d. All doors must be welded shut. e. All glass must be removed except front windshield. Front windshield may be replaced only with 1/8” Lexan. f. Aluminum body components are not permitted. (Except factory hoods) factory aluminum hoods can’t be gutted must remain stock. g. NO sharp edges that may pop a tire. 4. Brakes: a. Functioning brakes on all four wheels are required. b. Brake shut off devices or proportioning values are not permitted. c. Stock OEM calipers and rotor are required. Drilling or lightening of rotors is not permitted. d. Rear disk brakes are not permitted. e. Brake floaters are not permitted. 5. Engine: a. Engines maybe rebuilt to stock specs; and mounted in stock location maximum .060” clean up allowed. b. Stroking or de-stroking is not permitted. c. Racing or performance enhancing engine components of any kind ARE NOT PERMTTED. d. No 400 blocks. e. Only stock cast iron heads allowed. NO VORTEC. f. Camel back heads ALLOWED. Screw in studs and guide plates and Polly locks ALLOWED. g. Only stock intakes ALLOWED. (NO HIGH RISE, MARINE, CAMARO, CORVETTE). h. NO porting or polishing ANYWHERE. (HEADS, INTAKES, EXHAUST MANFOLDS). Revision 12/20/2021 Page 2 of 5
i. Max compression 10.5. j. NO FUEL INJECTIONS. k. NO electric fuel pumps. l. 4-barrel quadra jet carb unaltered except the choke plate and shaft removed. m. NO LIGHTWEIGHT CRANKS, RODS OR PISTONS ALLOWED. n. Aftermarket pulleys, power steering pump, valve cover and aluminum water pumps ARE ALLOWED. o. A 1” inspection bung/plug must be installed in the oil pan above the oil line. View of the crank shaft and internal components must be unobstructed from viewing. p. Any hydraulic camshaft (NON-ROLLER). q. NO ROLLER OF ANY KIND. (CAMS, LIFTERS, ROCKERS). r. Stock HEI Ignition system only. (NO COMPUTER BOARDS. MUST HAVE A STOCK 4 PIN MODULE). 6. Exhaust: a. Stock cast iron manifold only (NO CENTER DUMPS). b. Exhaust must be completely sealed and exit behind driver with turn down. c. Dual or single 2” OD Max on all pipes and turn downs. d. NO X OR H PIPES ALLOWED. 7. Frames: a. Rear frame fails maybe replaced with square tubing because of rusted frame rails. Just from the center of rear axle back only. b. Trailer hitches and similar add ones must be removed. c. Minimum ride height 5” measured on the sides with driver in car. 8. Fuel Cell: a. All cars must have a made for racing fuel cell securely mounted in the trunk area of the car with two (2) 1” metal straps. Fuel cell must have safety hoop. b. Fuel cell must have a minimum ground clearance of 8”. c. Fuel lines may not pass through the driver’s compartment d. Electric fuel pumps are not permitted. e. A firewall must separate the trunk and drivers’ compartment. f. Only pump gasoline is allowed. No fuel additives are permitted. 9. Radiator: a. Only 1 radiator is permitted. b. Radiator must vent into catch-can or mounted overflow tube at the center of windshield in clear view of officials. c. THERE IS TO BE NO ANTIFREEZE. $200 FINE IF FOUND AND/OR SUSPENSION. 10. Roll Cage: a. A four (4) point roll-cage of at least 1-3/4” OD with a minimum .095” wall thickness tubing required. b. Roll cage must remain in the interior of the car. c. Door bars are required. Minimum of three (3) on driver’s side. Minimum of two (2) door bars on passenger side. Revision 12/20/2021 Page 3 of 5
d. 1/8” steel door plate, minimum 16” x 24” on the driver’s side. e. Front and rear hoops are allowed. 11. Suspension: a. Stock type springs in stock location, spacers allowed NO COIL OVERS OR SCREW JACKS. b. Sway bar must be mounted in stock location with stock hardware on the frame. Threaded rod may be used to mount it to the lower control arms. c. Intermixing of suspension components is not permitted. d. Only 1 stock type shock per wheel mounted in the stock location with the stock hardware. NO adjustable shocks allowed. e. All control arms trailing arms must be stock for make and model of the car. (MUST NOT BE ALTERED). f. Only stock cast iron spindles are acceptable. Aluminum spindles are not permitted. g. Driver actuated weight jacking devices are not permitted. h. No driver adjustable devices are allowed. i. Electronic or hydraulic traction control devices are not permitted. j. ALL STEERING MUST REMAIN STOCK. Except an aftermarket steering shaft may be used. 12. Tires: a. Any DOT steel belted radial treaded tire 8” maximum tread width is allowed. 235-60’s maximum tire size. Stock radial tires only. Recaps and/or retreads are not permitted. Made for racing tires are not permitted. b. No recaps. c. No softening, soaking, conditioning, sniping, or grooving of tires. i. SOAKING OF TIRES IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED. (This rule applies to ALL tires in the pits, on the car, in the trailer or hauler, ALL tires) tires may be checked at any time. 1. First soaking violation results in 4-week suspension from Owosso Speedway and a $500 fine. 2. Second soaking violation results in a season-long suspension from Owosso Speedway and a $1000 fine. 13. Transmission: a. Stock automatic transmission is required. Power glides are not permitted. b. Functional 12” minimum diameter torque converter. c. 350 turbo, 400 turbo, and all metric variations must retain all working gears. All gears must be in working condition. Removal of gears or lightening of gears is not permitted. d. Drive shaft must be painted white. e. Front and rear drive shaft hoops made of steel are required. 14. Wheels: a. Steel, made for racing wheels only. b. Maximum wheel width is 8”. c. Wheel studs are allowed. i. Wheel studs must b 5/8” minimum with five (5) 1” hex lug nuts. ii. Wheel spacers are allowed. 15. Weight: a. Car must maintain a minimum base (total) weight of 3500 lbs. with driver in car pre-race and pre-qualifying. b. Maximum left side weight is 55%. c. Maximum rear weight 50%. d. Only lead may be used for ballast. Lead must be anchored with a minimum of two (2) ½” diameter bolts. e. All weight (lead only) must be painted white with car number painted in contrasting color on all sides. 16. PROTEST RULE: a. Protesting driver had to race at Owosso Speedway the previous weeks race. b. Protesting driver had to finish on the final winning lap. c. Protesting will cost the Protesting driver(s) $500.00 cash. Handed to track officials at the time request for protest. All protests must be filed within 15 minutes of the finish of the race. d. Protesting driver(s) must specifically state what they are protesting on the other car. (Example: He is running a high dome pistons). e. The driver who the protest is filed against has 30 minutes to prove that his car complies to the rules. f. If the driver who the protest is filed against is found not guilty of a rule violation, he is given the $500. If he is found guilty then the $500 is returned to the protesting driver(s). g. Protesting driver(s) can only file a protest once per season against the same driver. TOP 5 CARS FROM EACH CLASS MUST LINE UP FOR TECH IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE RACE. DO NOT GO TO YOUR TRAILER/PIT AREA FIRST. IF YOU DO AND CAR PLACED HIGHER THEN YOU IS DISQUALIFIED YOU CAN NOT ADVANCE. (EXAMPLE: If the 4th placed car goes to his trailer instead of going to the tech line immediately and the 3rd placed car is disqualified then the 4th place car will not advance to the 3rd place position. The 5th place car will then receive 3rd place providing he went immediately to tech after the race. Another example would be if the 4th place car does not go to tech and the 1st, 2nd & 3rd place cars are disqualified the 5th place car would advance to 1st place providing he went directly to tech. In both examples drivers who placed 6th and below will not advance in either money or points. Revision 12/20/2021 Page 5 of 5
