COACHES SHOULD ENCOURAGE PLAYERS TO STAY ON THEIR FEET AND TO KEEP THEIR HANDS TO THEIR SIDE. PLEASE TRY TO ENCOURAGE YOUR PLAYERS TO ENGAGE IN THE GAME - DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO STAND IN FRONT OF THE GOAL TO STOP OTHERS FROM SHOOTING. THEY CERTAINLY CAN PLAY DEFENSE, BUT YOU SHOULD TEACH THEM THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A DEFENDER AND A GOALIE. THE REFEREE WILL BLOW THEIR WHISTLE IF THEY SEE: • A HAND BALL • PUSHING FROM BEHIND/SIDE/FRONT • STRONG BODY CONTACT • BALL GETS STUCK IN THE CORNERS OF THE “TUBE” (INDOOR ONLY) • SLIDING IS NOT ALLOWED • PLEASE KEEP IN MIND OUR NEWEST AND YOUNGEST REFEREES WILL BE PLACED AT THE PRE-K GAME LEVEL • PLEASE MAKE THEIR EXPERIENCE A POSITIVE ONE SO WE DO NOT LOSE REFEREES EACH SEASON.
