2021 Lonoke County Fair Queen Pageant & Lonoke County Junior Fair Queen Pageant September 18, 2021 Welcome to the Lonoke County Fair Queen competition. We hope your experience will be a memorable one. We will be crowning a 2021 Lonoke County Fair Queen and 2021 Lonoke County Jr. Fair Queen on September 18, 2021, the girl taking this title will receive a gorgeous crown and sash, flowers, and plaque and along with this title comes the honor of getting to compete in the 2021 Arkansas State Fair Queen competition. All the details of this will be found in the following pages, please read carefully and completely as there is information in this packet that is extremely important. Qualifications, Rules, Regulations and Policies: 1. Fair Queen Contestants must be at least 18 years of age and not more than 23 years of age on the opening day of the county fair and Junior fair queen contestants must be at least 14 years of age and not more than 17 years of age on the opening day of the fair. Any contestant participating in the Lonoke County Fair Queen Pageant may not hold any other title. If crowned queen and holds another title she will be ineligible to compete at the Arkansas State Fair Queen Competition. 2. A contestant or reigning queen must have been born a female and a legal resident of Lonoke County. She cannot be, become, or at any time have been married, engaged, had a marriage annulled, pregnant, miscarried, aborted or have had a child. A contestant must not have ever been convicted of any crime or have any criminal charges pending. 3. Past Lonoke County Fair Queens / Junior Lonoke County Fair Queens are ineligible to compete again in the same age category. Contestants in the County Fair Pageant / Junior County Fair Pageant are ineligible to compete in the Fair Youth Talent or Rodeo Queen Contests in the same year. 4. A contestant can only compete in the county contest and win the Fair Queen Contest sanctioned by the County Fair that is held in the county where she resides. Attending school in the county does not constitute residence. In the event a contestant whose parents are divorced, living in separate counties, and has been court ordered to reside jointly with both parents., she can only compete in one of the two counties in which her parents reside. This matter must be taken care of before the contestant gets to the
competition. In the event a conflict arises, the Lonoke County Fair Pageant Director reserves the right to verify accurate residency, according to above said court documents or any additional documentation. 5. The Arkansas State Fair is now mandating the county/district to send their county/district winner, the contestant crowned at their sanctioned contests to the state competition. In the event the winning contestant chooses not to attend, the county must then revoke the winning contestant’s title and send their runner-up, which will then become their new sanctioned Fair Queen. In the event that a contestant cannot attend due to unforeseen circumstances, county / district fairs will not be required to revoke the contestant’s title. The Director, Staff and Management of the Lonoke County Fair and Livestock Association will have the sole discretion to determine if the contestant’s circumstance is unforeseen. All other county contestants whom compete in their county competition (this physical year) may then proceed to compete in their respective District competition as well as the Capitol City competition. Through these avenues, a contestant will have three opportunities to attend the Arkansas State Fair competition. Capitol City is an open preliminary competition for contestants that have participated in their county and district competition of that calendar year. In addition, any previous county or district fair queen may participate in capitol city as long as they meet the age requirements. The Capitol City competition will be held on Saturday October 1, 2021 at the Arkansas Building of the Arkansas State Fair. Contestants who do not have a sanctioned county contestant to compete in, may go directly to their respective District competition with permission from the Arkansas State Fair Director. 6. Contestants are required to be on time for all rehearsals and/or events. Absent or tardy contestants may be disqualified at the discretion of the Pageant Director and or County Fair Management. If you are unable to attend or be on time, due to an emergency, contact the Pageant Director at 501-350-8567 7. Contestant Resumes must be completed in their entirety. No additions or corrections are permitted once the resumes ae received. Each judge will receive a copy of the contestant’s resume. Resumes MUST be typed, and contestants should adhere to grammar usage and mechanics. Contestants are strongly encouraged to have their resume proofread prior to submission. We cannot express enough the importance of the resume and it being done correctly. This is not a fill in the blank entry form and should not be treated as such. 8. No entry forms/resumes will be accepted after 5pm on September 4, 2021. They can be mailed, or hand delivered to Lonoke County Fair Queen Contest 112 South Center, Lonoke, AR 72086. 9. All contestants are required to utilize the assigned dressing room area. Only one female will be allowed backstage with contestant. NO MALES ALLOWED! NO CAMERAS or CELL PHONES ALLOWED BACKSTAGE OR IN DRESSING ROOMS. There will be a dressing room monitor on staff to answer any questions you may have or knows where to go to get question answered. 10. Contestants competing in the Lonoke County Fair Queen contest / Junior Lonoke County Fair Queen Contest must conduct herself properly at all times. Inappropriate behavior bringing unfavorable publicity to herself and / or the Lonoke county fair may result in the Fair Queen / Junior Fair Queen relinquishing her title and the forfeiture and return of any and all prizes and or awards. Any display of poor sportsmanship and or unbecoming conduct, any interference and or disturbance, or any other behavioral problem created by a contestant, traveling companion, parent, relative, or even a supporter of a contestant could result in disqualification of the contestant not only from this year’s contest but all future contests. 11. The contestants of the Lonoke County Fair Queen / Junior Lonoke Fair Queen competitions must have the physical and mental capabilities to participate in this contest. The winner must also maintain such said capabilities in order to fulfill assigned duties and strenuous working schedule. 12. The County Contest Director and or County Fair Management of the Lonoke County Fair Queen / Lonoke County Junior Fair Queen Pageants reserve the final and absolute right to interpret these rules and arbitrarily settle and determine all matters, questions and differences in regard thereto, or otherwise
arising out of or connected with, or incident to the contest, and the right to amend or add to these rules as their judgment may determine. Any contestant or queen who fails to abide by any of the above rules or any rule/ statement given orally may be disqualified from the contest by the Contest Director and or County Fair Management. 13. Any prospective Lonoke County Fair Queen must agree to place their position and title above any other title they may hold within the county and agree to show precedence of said title in any and all situations where there happens to be a choice of titles to represent if holding more than one title in the co17unty. 14. If for any reason there is not a Lonoke County Fair or Fair Pageant the following year of your reign, you are not the latter years queen. You will be only the queen of the year you are crowned. You may however represent during that year as the queen of the previous year to which you were crowned. REHEARSAL: You will have two opportunities to attend a rehearsal, attendance to at least one of the rehearsals is MANDATORY. The choices are Thursday September 16th at 6:30 or Friday September 17th at 6:30. We will be going over useful information and answering any last minute questions you may have. We recommend that you rehearse in the same shoes you are wearing on stage during competition. Depending on number of contestants we may have an opening performance that will not be judged but will be taught at rehearsal. COMPETITION CLOTHING: Each contestant must participate in a private interview in addition to Active Wear and Evening Gown competitions. and will need the following clothing. Private Interview – A dress or suit may be worn in addition to jewelry and shoes of choice ~ no hats, gloves, or purses. No uniforms. Active Wear – This is a new category this year, it will replace sportswear in Junior Queen division, and swimsuit in the Fair Queen division. All contestants will wear the same thing. SOLID Black sports bra and black bike style shorts. If you are not sure, ASK!!! This can be purchased at Kicks Active Wear, Academy Sports or anywhere that sells active wear. Evening Gown – Contestants should choose an evening gown of choice. Jewelry and accessories should be tasteful and compliment the gown. High-heeled shoes are recommended but not required. Admission and Parking Enter the fairgrounds through the gate coming off of Hwy 89 (south gate), and park either in front of exhibit building or parking lot behind cow barns. Please do not block the drive or any other vehicle in. JUDGING and SCORING The judges will be appointed by the Lonoke County Fair and Livestock Association. They will be persons well qualified to judge a contest of this kind. They are carefully screened as to not have any connection to Lonoke County. Their decisions will be final. Under no circumstances will any contestant or representative of any contestant approach the judges at
any time. There will be no critiques given out. The director reserves the right to discuss contestants scores with contestant only with the intention of preparing contestant for state competition. Interview The interview will account for 50% of contestant’s total score. All interviews will be five minutes long, timed and monitored. The judges and Contestants are not allowed to shake hands or have any physical contact. First impression, confidence, ability and ease to converse and answer questions, posture, poise, personality is a large part of interview score. We will begin interviews at promptly 1pm with Junior contestant #1. You must be in waiting room at 12:45 ready to enter interview room. Active Wear Active Wear will account for 15% of total score. Over-all first impression, physical fitness energy level, proportion to figure in relation to height and weight, posture poise, personality, stage presence and confidence are also included. Evening gown The Evening Gown Competition will account for 35% of contestants total score. Judging will be based on overall first impression, beauty, stage presence, personality, grace, charm, walk, appropriateness of evening gown and composite appearance. Each contestant will be asked an on-stage question and will be allowed a maximum of 30 seconds for their extemporaneous response. Her ability to answer confidently, as well as her tone of voice, will be included in her Evening Gown score. Crowd Favorite This part of the contest is judged by supporters of our contestants. It absolutely has no bearing on the outcome of pageant. Contestants can sell tickets prior to the pageant as well as supporters can vote the day of the pageant, a table will be set up at pageant for voting. Tickets are $1 each or six tickets for $5. If tickets are sold prior to pageant, they should be turned in during registration along with money collected. The contestant in each age group who has the most ticket sales will be awarded crowd favorite and receive half of their ticket sales and certificate. Photogenic (optional) Pictures may be any size, color or black and white, glitz or natural. Please bring all photos to the pageant check-in on the day of the pageant. All photos must be turned in 15 minutes prior to beginning of pageant. DO NOT MAIL PHOTOS. Only one photo will be accepted per contestant. Please do not put photo in a frame, but instead a plastic protective sleeve is acceptable. Label photo with contestants name, age and competition category on the back.
All photos will be returned to you and must be picked up at the table in dressing room following the pageant. The Lonoke County Fair Pageant will not be held responsible for photos not picked up the day of pageant. Entry form is attached to pageant application. Registration Upon arrival contestants are to report immediately to registration table, at which time you will check in and be given instructions. If you did not receive your contestant number at rehearsal you can pick it up at this time, number is to be pinned on each change of clothes on the right top thigh. You will not be allowed on stage without number. No one is allowed on stage before pageant, no exceptions. Check in time will be no later than 12:30. All registrations for afternoon competition have the same check-in deadline, so don’t wait until the last minute because we will stop check in at 12:30. You will be allowed to check in anytime between 10 and 12:30 but once you have checked in you will not be allowed to leave the fairgrounds until after interviews. Dressing and Backstage Contestants are to report to the education building and check in with the dressing room monitor no later than 6pm for evening competition. Dressing room will be open at 3pm for the evening. The Lonoke County Fair and Livestock Show Association is not responsible for loss or damage to clothing or other personal items left in the dressing room. Tentative schedule: Registration begins at 8am 9am pageant for ages 0-13 begins and should be finished by noon Noon-1pm Break for lunch 1pm interviews for ages 14-75 3pm dressing room opens for evening. 6:15 report to prepare for pageant. 7pm pageant for ages 14-75 QUEENS DUTIES Our Lonoke County Queens will be expected to make at least 3 appearances at the Fair to mix and mingle with guests in addition to serving 3 times for an hour each time at the gate welcoming guests. Crowns and Sashes are a mandatory. Queen will assist any time during fair week that she is asked, including but not limited to, handing out awards in the livestock and exhibit areas, working in the concession stand when asked, helping the ladies in the education building during judging, appearing and helping if needed at the farmer for a day event, help at the talent show, pet show, appear at the Rodeo possibly throwing shirts or something similar. She will ride in the Lonoke County Fair Parade, Lonoke Christmas Parade, Cabot Christmas Parade, possibly other Christmas parades if schedule allows. She will help promote the Lonoke County Fair and Livestock Association throughout the year by volunteering if a situation arises and she is asked to do so on behalf of the fair. Our queen will represent Lonoke County Fair first and foremost above any other title held. Queens will return for the following years pageant ALL APPEARANCES AND INTERVIEWS that are scheduled must be approved by the Pageant Director beforehand. Failure to comply with this rule will result in automatic disqualification and its consequences. NO EXCEPTIONS!
Rules for Royalty: All clothing must be of good taste. You are each an example and are expected to dress and act as such. Your attitude must be pleasant and sincere with each appearance. You and only you will be allowed to enter with your gate pass. Anyone with you will have to pay gate admission. Always use good manners and respect when dealing with any of your directors, assistants, board members, and the general public. Remember who and what you are. Always ask if your day is complete and let the contest director know prior to your departure. Your crown and sash are to be on your body at each appearance you make. Do not wear you crown in your car; it is tall and will break and will not be replaced. If at any time you need Tracy and can’t find her go to the fair office, they can reach her by radio.

Resume instructions for: Lonoke county Fair Queen Junior Lonoke county Fair Queen Welcome to the Lonoke County Fair! The contestant resume is your opportunity for demonstrating to the judges why they should consider you for the job of the F Lonoke County Fair Queen / Junior Fa Lonoke County Fair Queen. You may list as many or as few items under each category as you desire. The only restriction is that it must follow the established format and it must be TYPED fitting on one (1) page. All information that does not fit on one (1) resume page will be discarded. The judges will receive exactly what is submitted on one (1) page. After the resume is received by the Lonoke County Fair, no additions or corrections will be allowed. All contestants are highly encouraged to have their resume proofread prior to submission. Contestants should adhere to correctly utilizing grammar and mechanics in addition to spelling. 1.) All margins should be set margins for 1" on all four sides. The font style may be no smaller than “10” and no larger than “12” point type, using only the Times New Roman font style. Please refer to the attached sample to verify you are following the requested format. 2.) You are now ready to begin! The contestant’s “Name” will be the first field completed. The contestant’s name should be typed as you wish for the judges to know in addition to how the contestant desires their name announced publicly / utilized for publicity. Example, if your name is Elizabeth Joan Warren and you only desire to be known as Joan Warren, please state your name as such. 3.) State your County and District title completely. Example, write Maumelle County or East Maumelle District Fair. Specify if you are the Miss or Junior Contestant! 4.) State your home mailing address of the county you reside in. Please list the entire address, including zip codes 5.) State your age, typing the month, day and year of birth. Tab over twice and provide your age. 6.) The “Education” field is next! Begin with your current school, adding additional schools thereafter. Be certain to hit “enter” to space your schools out. Adhere to the sample resume. 7.) The “Scholastic Honors” field is next. Each honor should separate by a semi-colon (;). Please keep in mind only one page may be submitted. List only your most current scholastic honors. 8.) The “Greatest Achievements and Leadership Achievements” field is next. All information should be separated by a semi- colon (;). Please keep in mind only one page may be submitted. List only your most current accomplishments. 9.) The “Interesting Facts” field is next. Each fact should be separated by a semi-colon (;). Please keep in mind only one page may be submitted. The Interesting Facts field should be completed with the contestant giving thought to providing information they feel a judge may never ask them. The contestant should make themselves come alive on paper in this field! 10.) The “Ambition for the Future” field is next. The contestant’s ambition at this point in their life should be evidently defined. Remember, wishful thinking never hurts anyone! 11.) The “Queen Question” field is next. The contestant should briefly explain how they would reign as the Arkansas State Fair Queen and touch the lives of others during their reign.
The entire form MUST FIT ON ONE (1) PAGE using the Times New Roman font style. You must leave a 1" margin on all four sides of the page. In the event spacing issues arise, simply follow the example resume provided. Use your best judgment on what is most important for the judges to know about you. Utilize space wisely. Attached is an example of what the Contestant Resume should look like. Any variations from this form will not be returned to you and will not be considered acceptable. The judges will receive your original work. By submitting the completed resume, the contestant verifies that everything on their resume is true and accurate. If it is proven that any information submitted is untruthful, accurate and factual, the contestant risks disqualification from competing in the Lonoke County Fair competition.

Achieving the next step as the Arkansas State Fair Queen would allow me to pursue my goals of volunteering with the youth of my community. In addition, I would be given the opportunity of stressing the importance of the fair industry and all it provides. Should I achieve this title, I will pursue my Master’s Degree in Culinary Arts with the on-line scholarship. The scholarship will not only be providing additional education to myself, moreover allowing me to encourage the youth of our state to pursue their educational aspirations.
