COMEDY THURSDAY 4 APRIL, 7.30 PM THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO PAUL Produced by Soft Tread Enterprises, Sydney One of Australia’s favourite performers, Jonathan Biggins, is Paul Keating – visionary, reformer and rabble-rouser – in a new comedy, The Gospel According to Paul. Full of intelligence and wit, this comedy satire is a funny, insightful and occasionally poignant portrait of Paul Keating. The man that – as he tells it – single-handedly shaped contemporary Australia. Jonathan Biggins’ performance as Paul Keating is well known from the long-running Sydney Theatre Company success story, The Wharf Revue. Beyond the canny impersonation, Jonathan, like so many Australians, has long been fascinated by Keating and what he means to Australia. Showcasing his eviscerating wit, rich rhetoric and ego the size of Everest, The Gospel According to Paul distils Keating’s essence, focussing on key biographical milestones, landmark political achievements and personal obsessions. It shows the man who grew up in the tribe of the Labor Party and gained an education at the knee of Jack Lang, who treated economics as an art form, and demanded we confront the wrongs of our colonial past. Biggins asks the question - what can we learn today from this singular politician, and the momentous time in our country’s history he dominated? MUSICAL/CABARET SATURDAY 13 APRIL, 8 PM A MIGRANT’S SON Produced by Michaela Burger, Melbourne Exploring one of the most colourful times in Australian history - the arrival of the Greeks! “A far-reaching generational story that crosses divides, ignites memories and pulls at your heart-string - the true spirit of the migrant experience” - Stage Whispers Direct from a sell-out season at Adelaide Cabaret Festival, A Migrant’s Son is a true story exploring migration from Greece to Australia during the 1930s. This extraordinary new work conveys incredible historical events that are brought to life through original compositions, creating a unique and touching account that is both hard-hitting and hilarious. Written and performed by award-winning cabaret star Michaela Burger (Exposing Edith), this is a tale about a man, the son of a poor migrant, who defied all odds and rose above adversity. From early morning deliveries for the family bakery at age seven, down opal mines in Coober Pedy and opening a chain of discount supermarkets, his unrelenting determination to build a successful life is comical and dramatic; as he pushes through like an unstoppable force and is willing to sacrifice everything for his family. Featuring traditional instruments, including bouzouki, the show touches deeply on topics of racism, intolerance, judgement and the struggles presented by migration. Spanning nearly 90 years, it presents the audience with a deep appreciation of what Australia has offered migrants of past generations and of today. “Burger’s emotionally powered narrative was one of the most passionate and heartfelt I’ve seen in any cabaret show!” - Arts Review TYPE PRICE TICKET INFORMATION SUBSCRIBERS $46.00 PHOTO CREDIT: CLAUDIO RASCHELLA ADULT $56.00 CONCESSION $48.00 YOUTH $25.00 GROUP 8+ $52.00 18 19

OPERA FRIDAY 10 MAY, 8 PM DON GIOVANNI Produced by Co-Opera, Adelaide We all get what we want. Set at a sumptuous Florentine wedding, Mozart’s powerful setting of Don Giovanni is the story of the crimes and seductions of the wealthy Don and the havoc he wreaks on the people around him. As his crimes and machinations slowly come to light, the characters begin to plot and act out their revenge. With some of the greatest operatic tunes and most exciting ensembles, this opera tells its dark tale with generous lashings of satire and comedy. The story follows his unrepentant journey from murder to his damnation in hell. Meanwhile, a web of desire and lust weaves its way around the chaos that the Don leaves in his wake: Donna Anna wants vengeance, Ottavio wants Anna, Elvira wants the Don and the Don wants everything. It’s a tale that warns us about getting just what we want. Co-Opera has been touring regional and metropolitan Australia since it was established in 1991. Directed by award winning Nicholas Cannon, this is the first production with their new Artistic Director and is conducted by Josh van Konkelenberg. Sung in English and Italian and performed with a chamber orchestra. COMEDY FRIDAY 26 JULY, 8 PM SATURDAY 27 JULY, 2 PM AND 8 PM THE VICAR OF DIBLEY With kind permission from Tiger Aspect Productions Produced by Dubbo Theatre Company Inc, Dubbo This side-splitting adaptation, brought to life by Dubbo Theatre Company, brings to the stage the exacting humour and characters that viewers have ‘roared’ at through their television sets for the past 24 years. First screened on television in 1994, and based on the experiences of Reverend Joy Carroll - one of the first female priests after the Anglican Church’s reformation decision to ordain women priests; the Vicar of Dibley quickly became one of the most successful British sitcoms of all time receiving multiple British Comedy Awards, two International Emmys and a nomination for an Academy Award. The story is set in Dibley, a sleepy English village in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside with a community of colourful characters of the maddest variety. The tale begins when the former vicar of Dibley dies unexpectedly, and the parishioners are surprised to find that the Bishop hasn’t appointed a bloke in his place, but a “babe with a bob-cut and a magnificent bosom”! From the somewhat inappropriate Owen Newitt to the dithering Jim ‘no-no-no-no’ Trott, and the officious Frank Pickle, all the iconic villagers are portrayed, headed up by the pompous David Horton and his much put-upon son Hugo and then of course there’s Alice Tinker... Simply unmissable! Recommended: 15 years+ “Thank the Lord for The Vicar of Dibley…. Could there be a better place to spend Christmas?” (after the hit TV sitcom topped the Christmas ratings) - The Telegraph TYPE PRICE TICKET INFORMATION SUBSCRIBERS $30.00 ADULT $35.00 CONCESSION $30.00 YOUTH $28.00 GROUP 8+ $30.00 30 31

DRAMA SATURDAY 5 OCTOBER, 7.30 PM MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING By William Shakespeare Director James Evans, produced by Bell Shakespeare, Sydney Claudio and Hero are deeply in love. Beatrice and Benedick would rather swap sassy insults than sweet nothings. Much Ado About Nothing is a saucy and razor-sharp battle of wits between the bickering Beatrice and Benedick, who wield words as weapons, their banter betraying their love and loathing of each other. However, Claudio is quickly seduced by envy and this idyllic world threatens to come tumbling down as he humiliates Hero. Beatrice and Benedick must join forces to defend true love – even if they can’t recognise it in themselves. But will truth and honesty win the day, and does love really conquer all? Directed by Bell Shakespeare’s Associate Director, James Evans (Julius Caesar) and starring Zindzi Okenyo (Antony and Cleopatra, Melbourne Theatre Company’s An Ideal Husband) as Beatrice, this Much Ado About Nothing will be a powerful exploration of the struggle for identity and self-knowledge in a male-dominated world. The pursuit of love is framed in a social context that enhances the darker themes in this timeless comic gem.
