FOUNDATION FOR WOMEN WARRIORS is a unique support organization created exclusively for the women veteran community of Southern California. We provide essential programs to empower the resiliency and professional development of Women Warriors. Every step is dedicated to supporting these outstanding women to navigate obstacles and realize their maximum potential after their service career. OUR MISSION We exist to serve women veterans and their children so that their next mission is clear and continues to impact the world. WHY WOMEN VETERANS? Often overshadowed by their male counterparts, our programs honor, empower, and support the women who answered our nation’s call to serve. OUR VALUES • Integrity First • Honor • Commitment • Community • Strive for excellence in all we do. OUR PURPOSE Often overshadowed by their male counterparts, our programs honor, empower, and support the women who answered our nation’s call to serve. HONOR HER SERVICE | EMPOWER HER FUTURE
A Woman Warrior's Story Foundation for Women Warriors (FFWW) is an organization that reminds me that there are people out there who have good hearts. I learned about FFWW when I had been unexpectedly laid off and was collecting unemployment. I was coming up on the end of unemployment, had exhausted my GI Bill stipend and was struggling to make ends meet. I had been on multiple interviews but had yet to find a job. How was I supposed to keep my family in our home? That is when FFWW stepped in and assisted me with rent for the month. This enabled me to not stress about potential homelessness and I could continue to job search and go on interviews with my mind at ease. Not only did they give me assistance for rent, I also had the opportunity to attend some stellar workshops in San Diego that focused on women, our position as veterans, our careers, and our place in the community. FFWW stepped in and helped me once again. I am the sole caretaker for my three children, Jamier, Jamarion, and Jinaaj, and needed childcare while I finished my degree program at the University of San Diego. Although I am back in a full-time job at a wonderful company, I had to take an entire week off work to finish the semester, a cost I wasn’t quite ready to absorb as I was just getting back on my feet. FFWW stepped in and provided me with the childcare I needed; I was able to finish my schooling with a burden lifted from my shoulders as I knew my children were being cared for properly. Because of the childcare assistance I received, I was able to graduate on time with a Master of Science in Global Leadership from the School of Business. One thing I love about FFWW is the awesome one-on-one assistance I received. The program coordinator who walked me through the application process was so warm and embracing. I initially had a bit of pride holding me back from accepting help, but she reminded me that we all fall short sometimes in our lives and that needing a helping hand is nothing to feel ashamed about. Their mission is not just something written on their website. It is spoken loudly through the actions of the individuals working for the organization. Thank you, Foundation for Women Warriors, for being a pillar of love, hope, and community for women veterans. Our sacrifices are often overlooked and overshadowed, unintentionally, by the men who also sacrificed for this country. You, however, have made it your mission to support, encourage, motivate, and reassure women veterans that we matter in and out of uniform. I appreciate the network of women I now have because of you. Thank you for empowering me to carry out my next mission in life so that I can impact the world with my leadership, influence, purpose, and service.
PROGRAMS Our Women Veteran Transition Services have been developed to address the growing needs of the increasing population of military women transitioning to civilian life. We address the top four needs that women veterans have self-identified as crucial to the success of their transition: education, employment, housing and childcare. CHILDCARE ASSISTANCE Childcare Assistance is a ground-breaking and unique approach to ensuring that women veteran mothers are to gain and maintain employment or persist towards their degree. We provide childcare stipends for daycare (children ages 0-5) and spring, summer and winter camp assistance for working or student veteran mothers. WARRIOR ASSISTANCE Warrior Assistance prevents homelessness and provides short- term, high impact financial assistance to our women veterans to help them obtain/retain their homes. We provide women veterans with the critical relief need to navigate life’s obstacles and make successful life transitions. WARRIOR CONNECT Warrior Connect provides veterans with necessary information, resources, and referrals that are geographically desirable and address a variety of their needs. CONNECT WITH COMMUNITY Connect with Community is a series of workshops where veterans acquire and enhance professional and life skills, build a robust professional network, and an increase their awareness of available resources.
