Date Time Event Location and Description Sunday, June 2 10:00 a.m. – Harold Town Conservation Area 3:00 p.m. Celebration of Trails Join Otonabee Conservation and trail partners for a day of mountain biking – try a demo mountain bike, get tips on safe riding and safety equipment and information about programs and services. Location: 2611 Old Norwood Road in the Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan, just east of the city of Peterborough Wednesday, June 5 6:00 p.m. - Beavermead Campground 7:30 p.m. Guided Photography Hike Celebrate World Environment day by joining Otonabee Conservation Staff for guided photography walk at Beavermead Campground. Learn the principles of photography, how to take better photos, and then practice outdoors. Bring your own camera or phone, hiking shoes, insect repellant and water. The hike will take approximately 1.5 hours and is suitable for all ages and abilities. Beavermead Campground is located at 2011 Ashburnham Drive, Peterborough. Meet at the Gatehouse. Sunday, June 16 10:00 a.m. - Machinery Day at Hope Mill 4:00 p.m. Celebrate Father’s Day with a visit to the Hope Mill, a circa 1835 operating water=powered sawmill on the banks of the Indian River. Take a tour and watch the sawmill in action. View the display rooms and visit the children’s workshop where children can build a bird box. The Hope Mill is located at 3414 Hope Mill Road, in the Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan.
Date Time Event Location and Description Saturday, July 13 1:00 p.m. - Warsaw Caves Conservation Area 2:00 p.m. Birds of Prey Join staff from Wild Ontario and meet live birds of prey, learn about biodiversity, climate change, and species at risk. Snakes of Ontario 3:00 p.m. - Join staff from Sciensational Snakes for an 4:00 p.m. opportunity to get up close to local species of snakes during this interactive program. The Warsaw Caves Conservation Area is located at 289 Caves Road, Warsaw, ON Sunday, July 21 10:00 a.m. - Beavermead Campground 12:00 a.m. Learn to Fish Learn to fish is a free, two-hour program that teaches kids, teens and adults how to fish. Participants will learn how to rig a rod, read the regulations, cast, and do some hands-on fishing. 1:00 p.m. - Snakes of Ontario 2:00 p.m. Join staff from Sciensational Snakes for an opportunity to get up close to local species of snakes during this interactive program. 2:30 p.m. - Live Music and Puppet Show 3:30 p.m. Join Glen from the Paddling Puppeteers for an Interactive, nature-themed puppet show including songs of the Kawartha Lakes and forests. 4:00 p.m. – Guided Paddling Tour of Little Lake 5:00 p.m. Bring your canoe or kayak (or rent one of ours) and join ORCA staff for a guided tour by water of Meade Creek and learn about local species, natural and cultural history. Saturday, July 27 8:00 p.m. - Harold Town Conservation Area 11:00 p.m. Night Sky Viewing Join the Peterborough Astronomical Association (PAA) for some night sky viewing from 8-11pm at Harold Town Conservation Area. Participants will have the opportunity to view the night sky using equipment provided by the PAA members away from the city lights. Suitable for all ages, all equipment provided. Weather dependent – clear skies required. Location: 2611 Old Norwood Road in the Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan, just east of the city of Peterborough

The hike will take approximately 1.5 hours and is moderately difficult with uneven terrain and some slopes. Saturday, August 17 12:00 p.m. - Wildlife Display 4:00 p.m. Visit the interactive display hosted by the Kawartha Wildlife Center. The KWC is a new, wildlife rehabilitation center established to rescue, rehabilitate and release wildlife.
Sunday, August 18 10:00 a.m. - Fishing Workshop 12:00 p.m. Join us for an interactive workshop about fishing – learn about local fish species, fishing tackle, regulations and then try your technique.
