2018 Sugarcane Festival 4-H Rabbit Show
A Rabbit Show will once again be held in conjunction with the Sugarcane Festival in 2018.
The Rabbit Show will be held on Saturday, September 29th, 2018. Rules for the show are as
follows:
1. Arrival and Registration: 7:00 – 8:00 a.m. Saturday, September 29, 2018.
a. Show begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. Release of all rabbits will be on Saturday at the
conclusion of the rabbit show. All animals must be removed by 4:00 p.m. Saturday.
2. Show officials are not responsible for rabbits left after 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
3. The Sugarcane Festival Association, Iberia Parish Government, SugArena at Acadiana
Fairgrounds, and the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service - LSU AgCenter, are not
responsible for loss or damage.
4. Rabbits must be in possession and at domicile (home) of exhibitor at least thirty (30) days
prior to the festival. Exhibitors can only enter rabbits they own and care for as of the
required possession date.
5. Participants must be between 9-20 years of age and not have completed their senior year
of high school. Exhibitors must be bonafide 4-H/FFA members.
6. All rabbits must be properly entered prior to the show with the signature of both parent and
4-H/FFA member on the entry.
7. A $3.00 entry fee per rabbit will be charged for rabbits pre-entered by September 12th.
A $5.00 entry fee will be charged for rabbits entered after September 12th, and up to day
of the show. Day-of-show entries will be accepted, but all rabbits must be registered
and checked in by 8:00AM.
8. Exhibitors may pre-register up to 10 rabbits. Day of show registrations will be limited
to 2 rabbits per exhibitor.
9. Any exhibitor or parent displaying ownership while rabbits are being judged will be
disqualified.
10. An exhibitor may enter only 1 rabbit per class. Individual classes are determined by age, breed,
and sex. For example: An exhibitor may enter one Senior Rex Doe and one Junior Rex Doe.
11. Exhibitors need to be present during judging or make prior arrangements with show
superintendent.
12. No exhibitor or parent is to confer with the judges about his/her rabbit while the class is in
progress.
13. Definition of classes:
a. Senior (A) rabbits six months of age and over in those breeds having two show
classes (Junior and Senior). (B) rabbits eight months of age and over in those breeds
having three show classes (Junior, Intermediate, Senior).
b. Intermediate - rabbits between six months of age and eight months of age.
c. Junior - rabbits less than six months of age.
d. BE SURE TO REVIEW THE ATTACHED FILE TO ASSIST WITH
REGISTRATIONS.
14. Exhibitors are to care for (feeding/watering) their rabbits while on exhibit.
15. You must bring your rabbits in carrying cages. Rabbits cannot be housed overnight.
