It is responsible for all recreation programming and events as listed in this brochure, as well as Edward Schock Centre, Lords and Wing Park Family Aquatic Centers, Bowes Creek Country Club, The Highlands and Wing Park Golf Courses, Hawthorne Hill Nature Center, Eastside Recreation Center, Elgin Sports Complex and Lord’s Park Pavilion. The Parks and Recreation Department is also responsible for issuing picnic shelter permits, and the planning and development of new park sites. The maintenance of existing park sites is the responsibility of Land Management, which is a division of the Public Works Department. The staff contacts and their phone numbers for these various areas of operations can be found on page 4 of this brochure. The Parks and Recreation Department’s Administrative Offices are located on the second floor of Edward Schock Centre and they can be reached by calling 847-931-6123. With the arrival of this brochure, registration is currently being accepted for Summer classes unless otherwise noted. Please refer to page 80 for specific directions regarding registration. We encourage you to register early so you will not be disappointed by a class being full or being cancelled due to low enrollment. Adult Athletics 2021 Summer Adult Softball League ADULT SOFTBALL LEAGUES will be held once again at the Elgin Sports Complex this summer. Separate divisions are offered for Men’s 12”, Women’s 11”, and CoEd 12”. Don’t start off with a strike against you! Register today for the 2021 Adult Summer Softball Leagues. Monday-Friday Game Times are 6:30pm, 7:40pm, or 8:50pm. Games will start the week of May 3rd! (Some double headers will be mixed in to certain weeknight leagues). Sunday game times are 6:00pm, 7:10pm, or 8:20pm. Aquatics - Family Aquatic Centers Lord’s Park Family Aquatic Center Due to ongoing negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, service level reductions remain in place, including the closure of Lord's Park Family Aquatic Center for the 2021 outdoor pool season. Patrons are encouraged to utilize Wing Park Family Aquatic Center or Adventure Island at the Edward Schock Centre of Elgin. Camps Snapology: STEAM Survivor Camp Are you ready for a challenge? Snapology’s S.T.E.A.M. Survivor program will put your students’ design, building and critical thinking skills to the test! They will be given daily challenges for which they must design functional solutions with their teammate! They will earn Survivor Bucks when they perform well and be able to use those survivor bucks to purchase supplies or prizes throughout the camp. The goal of this program is to encourage students to carefully work through the engineering design process to see how often they can design with a purpose. Face masks required. We teach "life through song". The Elgin Youth Choir Summer Camp provides a week long experience where students can grow musically in a fun and exciting environment along with a live performance at the conclusion of camp. Climbing Wall ROCK ON! Billy Goats Climbing Class Classes include a six-punch climbing pass for participants to practice Beginning climbers can use their natural urge to safely climb. This class their skills during open climb times.
