The following work is from Year 8 art sketch books. These two pieces of work are by Annabel Cooke.
The drawings and development ideas are based on
their ‘Masks’ project. The students have done really
well to experiment with the different visual elements
found in the masks studied.

This work is by Sophia Kenny.

careers update!
We are in the process of finalising UCAS applications with all of our students and would like to thank parents for
their support with this. When the UCAS form is complete, students should be applying to colleges and sixth
form centres. There is no limit to the number of applications a student can make, in fact we actively encourage
students to make a large number so they have a range of offers from post-16 providers.

The Careers Advisor will be back in school next week, after a break for the mock exams. All Year 11 students
will have a one-to-one session with the advisor to help them better understand the post-16 options and the
additional advice that is available.

wwww.ckcareersonline.org.uk is a website run by Calderdale and Kirklees and is aimed at both students and
parents. It contains advice on the post-16 options available such as apprenticeships, BTECs and A levels.

Many of the local colleges and sixth forms are still holding Open Evenings and Open Days, please see the list
below for the forthcoming ones:

• 10 January 2017, 7.00 - 9.00pm Heckmondwike Grammar School

 Uniform Recycling

Parent appeal for help. We would be
really grateful if you would be
prepared to donate your old uniform Attendance Fact: poor school attendance is closely associated
with crime. One quarter of school age offenders have truanted
so we are in a position to help other
families replace old or lost uniform. repeatedly.
All donations can be dropped off at
 main reception. We will remove
names and wash and iron if
 necessary.

Thank you in advance for your help.
