Costco Canada Manufacturing SOP
All women’s styles for Costco Canada styles are copies of existing styles from
previous seasons from a variety of divisions. All garments should have the
same trim as on the original garment, with all branded trim changed to
STUDIO trim in STUDIO colors .
Any changes to trim items required by law in Canada or specifically requested
CANADA by Costco Canada is indicated below.
Fit Samples DO NOT SEND COSTCO CANADA SAMPLES ON HANGERS
Women’s samples should always be sent with” STUDIO” labels.
Men’s samples should always have CLAIBORNE labels.
Fit Samples must be sent from the factory to the Technical Designer in NJO. Then
TD will forward them to the Montreal office who then sends them to Costco for
approval. Comments will come back to the NJO & TD will send final comments to
OSO.
All fit samples shipped by factory to NJO should have COSTCO SAMPLE TAG
attached.
In addition, NJO will attach CLAIBORNE or STUDIO SAMPLE TAG to all
samples.
Production Samples 1.) Production Samples that represent actual production and quality of the entire
order must be sent. It is not necessary to send every size in every color, but at least
one garment of every size and one garment of every color must be sent.
2.) All Costco Canada tags and manufacturer’s labeling must be at least in English
and French. (Spanish can be included on bookfold label).
3.) YKK zippers and snaps are mandatory.
4.) For Costco Canada only, the !Product Specification Sheet (Adult Top &
Outerwear or Adult Bottom)”must be completed and sent with each set of
Production Samples. Attach a care label to the form instead of completing the
“Proposed Care Instructions” on the form.

Hangtags/ Joker Tickets
The brand tag will be identical front and back. All variable information (Size, UPC
Code, price etc) will be printed on Costco UPC tag only – see below.

All garments must have a separate Costco UPC/Price
hangtag, in addition to the brand hangtag/Joker ticket.
Size of the hang tags should be 1.25" x 3" (width x
ength)
Hangtag must be printed in black on white ground
with perforation.
Information on the UPC/Price hangtag should include:
a) Costco department number (ladies/girls = D31,
COSTCO UPC/Price men's/boys = D39)
Hangtag b) Costco item number
c) UPC Code and price – (download from Liz
catalog)
d) Garment size (must be in English and French)
e) Costco sell price (legal requirement applicable to
Canadian division)
Shipment is subject to return if the hang tag has insufficient, incorrect or
illegible information
Length of the swift tag (or ribbon) must not be more than 3.5"
Use size sticker on all folded product. No size sticker on hanging product.

NOTE: Colored Size Tags For Women’s: SSST 11-W
are no longer required for
Costco Canada styles.
For Mens: SSCL-11
Garment Length Costco most likely will not require Short, Regular or Long lengths of their
garments. If SRL lengths are required, the information will be on the source order.
SRL lengths must be shown in English and French wherever used.
Price No price on STUDIO hangtag. Print on Costco UPC price tag only

PACK/FOLD/CARTONS
No styles shipped GOHH. See Tech Pack for individual styles to see if hangar is
GOHH/GOHF/FLAT
required.
1. Pants:
A. Must be tri-folded (see example below)
B. Attach all hangtags to the belt loop on the ride side of the pant (hangtag should
lay flat on top of the folded pant)
Folding Method
2. Tops:
A. Must be 'square folded', preferably at 12" width to ideally fit the table
configuration
B. Hang tags to be attached to the neck label
1.Costco UPC/price hangtag must be on top, then colored size tag with manufacturer
tags behind and attached at this same location
Product must NOT be shipped with tissue, pins, clips or cardboard inserts, or
individual bags
Costco UPC/price hang tag, colored size tag, & brand hang tag are swift-tagged
together through the neck label
note: Size Strip AND color-coded size tag are required

All garments shipped in one master polybag per carton. No labels required on the
Master Polybag

All styles will be pre-packed unless directed otherwise with multiple colors and sizes
Pre-packs
in the same pre-pack. See source orders for pre-pack details.
Product must be shipped in 24" x 20" master cartons with minimal inner packaging.
Carton height must not exceed 17”
Master Carton Dimensions Carton weight must not exceed 50lbs
All cartons should comply with the Burst Test and Edge Crush Test specifications in
our Standard Carton Specifications
Costco Canada Page 4Carton Labels and Markings Master cartons must be marked with the following information:
A. Costco Purchase Order number
B. Costco item number
C. Warehouse/Depot address
D. Carton contents (color & size breakdown) and Pack Type. (e.g. “Pack A” or
“Pack B”) See Pack Type Example
E. Color Name (e.g. Blue, Red etc) AND color code (e.g 001, 324 etc) must be used
on the carton.
Cartons must be constructed of heavy ply cardboard & sealed securely
Cartons must be filled sufficiently to support the weight of layers stacked above
Master cartons should be fully packed without crushing product
Master cartons must be shipped in layers that perfectly fit the 48"x40" pallet
configuration.
All items must be packed according to the master carton information specified
1 Quantity shipped must be equal to purchase order quantity
2 Costco does NOT accept over shipments
3 Short shipments must be approved by the buying office prior to ship date
4 Ship date & Cancel date are the same on Costco purchase orders
5 All orders must be shipped on the Ship/Cancel date
6 Unauthorized late shipments are subject to refusal
7 Authorized late shipments are subject to extended terms
8 Shipments must include a packing slip for each purchase order, attached to outside
of the carton/pallet
9 Bill of Lading must read purchase order number, warehouse/depot address, &
actual weight and cube of the shipment
10 All product must be received on Costco approved pallet boards with no
overhang
Costco Item # Sticker
All cartons must to be marked with 2 stickers with Costco Item #, and simple
garment description (e.g {“Men’s Pant”, “Ladies Blouse”, “Down Jacket”. Lettering
should be the same size as the Item #.
One sticker on long side of carton and one sticker on short side of carton.
The stickers need to be at least 3 inches high by 8 inches wide in blue with the item
number in large black numbers.
All MENSEAR require a BLUE sticker
All WOMENS require a PINK sticker
No specific pantone color number specified for sticker so use pictures shown as a
guide.
Prior to shipping, any revision to quantities, delivery dates, carton weight & cube,
color breakdown, etc. as noted on the Costco Order Confirmation sheet and Purchase
Orders must be communicated immediately to Costco regardless of how minor the
change.
Failure to comply will result in a $100/location charge or shipment refusal
The Customer PO # will be put on the carton by our Canada warehouse. Customer

PO# is not required to ship from the factory.
