A MESSAGE FROM THE CEO When I accepted the position as CEO of Efficiency Manitoba, I knew I would be overseeing something special. The launch of a brand-new company dedicated exclusively to energy efficiency is a unique opportunity to create a one-stop shop for Manitobans looking to save money and the environment. With my experience and passion for the conservation industry, I couldn’t wait to dive right in. “We’re here to help. You may be wondering what exactly Efficiency Manitoba is going to look like. This spring, GREEN! we here at Efficiency Manitoba challenge you to get out and enjoy the province’s wealth of natural spaces. CELEBRATE EARTH DAY Mark your calendars – April 22 is Earth Day. This is a time to celebrate our planet and learn about how we can preserve our natural resources. FortWhyte Alive is holding an Earth Day event on Sunday, April 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Activities include hikes, scavenger hunts, arts and crafts, and live entertainment. Visit fortwhyte.org for more information. Another way to do your part is to join a community clean-up event. Check with your city, town, or municipality to see if there’s a clean-up happening near you. If there isn’t, gather your friends and family and start your own! EAT AND SHOP LOCAL Few things are more delicious than farm-fresh produce. This spring, visit one of the many farmers’ markets in the province. Not only will you be supporting the local economy, but you’ll get to enjoy the sunshine and do your grocery shopping all at once.
