The world faced the biggest challenge of our generation and everything changed. In many ways, it was left to professional sport to help bring people together and to help bring some semblance of normality back into what were unprecedented times. Somerset County Cricket Club moved quickly to ensure the safety of all our staff and their families and then reached out to our Members and supporters. Players and staff at the Club spent their time making telephone calls to our most vulnerable supporters in order to ensure that they were in good spirits. The players also recorded a video of the Club song to help encourage people to wash their hands for the necessary amount of time. As soon as we had a fundamental understanding of what impact Covid-19 was going to have within the county, we felt that it was vital to offer our support to the NHS and Musgrove Park Hospital. Therefore, The Cooper Associates County Ground was made available to the NHS Foundation Trust as a facility for Covid-19 testing.
