There was also a yearning from many speakers and leaders for Jesus Christ to come quickly. Some were even expressing a desire to finish the gospel work, and Had the church of Christ done her appointed work as the experience the next General Conference Session in the New Jerusalem, Lord ordained, the whole world would before this have but not on this earth. Dr. TL Letseli – SAU President TEACHING CHRIST’S GREAT COMMISSION And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying,“All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:18-20. Christ’s last words to His disciples were: “Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.” “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations.” Go to the farthest bounds of the habitable globe, and know that wherever you go My presence will attend you.... To us also the commission is given. We are bidden to go forth as Christ’s messengers, to teach, instruct, and persuade men and women, to urge upon their attention the word of life. And to us also the assurance of Christ’s abiding presence is given. Whatever the difficulties with which we may have to contend, whatever the trials we may have to endure, the gracious promise is always ours,“Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.” 3

sau news and views SAU FAMILY AND HEALTH MINISTRIES THE KAPHUNGA MIRACLE Thirteen souls were ready for baptism but the portable baptismal font had no water. The truck that was supposed to transport water to a remote village of Kaphunga, broke down on Friday afternoon. Pastor Gamedze, the ADRA Director of Swaziland, who organised the baptism, saw a large container used by construction workers to mix cement. To save the event, Pastor Gamedze’s creative instinct made him decide to facilitate the large container as a baptismal font. (Kindly see the photos). The Kaphunga miracle started when Annah Gwebu who was one of the counsellors of the HIV-AIDS Training-of-trainers (TOT) programme by ADRA at Kaphunga Village. Annah herself was not an Adventist. But because of her friendship to Adventists ADRA workers, she invited ADRA and the Adventist church to start a Church in the area. Annah saw that the Adventists were addressing the people’s needs and that the church could bring change to the people in the community that has been ravaged by HIV-AIDS. Through the efforts of Swaziland Conference, Kaphunga Village became a recipient of the “One-Day Church” project funds. A global pioneer was dispatched to do follow-up visits for Bible study students. During the December holidays, an evangelistic group, organised by Mrs Gemima Orillosa from the General Conference came with her 4-member team. The SID came along with Dr and Mrs Llaguno and their team. The SAU were presented by Dr and Mrs Negre and Mr Hermie Munez. The group did the reaping: an evangelistic campaign for 10 nights. During the day, the group were out in the community giving free medical services, clothes, food as well as helping to paint the newly erected church. Thirteen souls were baptised in that large bucket the first Sabbath in January 2015. The baptismal ‘pool’ was carried out on an unconventional way; nonetheless, the idea was inspired by the Holy Spirit. When appeals were made, seventeen more souls stood up, wanting to be included in the next baptism ceremony. And all of these happenings started by a leap of faith of one woman, Annah Gwebu, who herself was baptised. Indeed, one shining candle, can light up all other candles and brighten the corners where those in need are! Dr Jun Negre SAU Director: Health and Family Ministries 7
sau news and views SAU ADVENTIST WOMEN’S MINISTRIES PRAISE GOD! Women’s Ministries Celebrates its 20th Anniversary Around the world this year, women come together with joy and gratitude to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the departmental status of Adventist Women’s Ministries. In and around the SAU circle we also celebrated. In every conference and church, yes in any women’s gathering we celebrated and praised God for His loving kindness. During the past 20 years God has empowered us, affirmed us, filled us, renewed us and gave us a sense of purpose. Sisters for Christ launched! The first Sisters for Christ Launch drew 120 teens in the KNFC to Anerley Camp from 27-29 March 2015. This is a programme for teens guided by Adventist Women’s Ministries which will make a difference in their lives through service to God. Some of the topics under discussion at this launch, were, “Who am I?”; “What is Sisters for Christ and why do we need it?”; “How will we make a difference, what are our believes?”, “ Real Beauty.” The evening was celebrated by crowning each of these teen girls as princesses in His kingdom, a dedicatory prayer was offered and a big special cake with a delicious meal was prepared for them. More Sisters for Christ chapters have been launched in Kokstad and Durban Central. We hope to see more chapters in other conferences in future. YAWM ARISE More than 450 young women of SAU got together in Bloemfontein during 22-24 May 2015 for their 3rd Congress. ‘ARISE’ was the theme. The entire weekend was dedicated to the young women - challenging them to be committed to chastity and useful service for God. Two young women pastors were the guest speakers, viz Pastor Lerato Makombe and Pastor Nandi Flemming. Saturday evening was celebrated with the Princess Banquet when all the AWM Conference and Union directors addressed them regarding “The Behaviour of a Princess.” They were all dedicated to the Lord and crowned as Princesses of God. Sunrise Prayer Walk 500 young Adventist Women (YAWM) and their leaders did a prayer walk around Bloemfontein, early on Sunday morning, 24 May 2015. They were divided into groups of 20’s and went to strategic places to pray there. Some were praying for homes, unemployed people, prostitutes, sick people and even people they met in the streets. Bloemfontein was just covered with prayers that Sunday. It was concluded with a delicious breakfast and one group invited some unemployed men in the streets to come and enjoy breakfast with them. AWM Week of Prayer and International Day of Prayer Every year the first week of March is the AWM Week of Prayer. This year our theme was, “At Jesus’ Feet”. It was extra special because we encouraged young women in the local churches to be preachers. I visited Bloem City Church and three more churches in Swaziland and I was truly blessed. I then celebrated the International Day of Prayer at Manzini Church with women around Swaziland. Our theme was, “The Woman, The Prophet and The Prayer, It is well”. In the afternoon we all celebrated the 20th anniversary of Women’s Ministries as a department. MRS Z KUNENE SAU Director: Adventist Women’s Ministries / AYWM / Children’s Ministries 8
