Superb XP New models
Let us introduce a brand-new series of four piece, ultra-light, very fine yet powerful
rods. They are the best competition fly rods. These rods were designed using the
newest technology and highest quality materials available. These rods have been
long-term tested and fine-tuned to absolute perfection, in cooperation with the best
fly - fishermen and competitors in the World. As well as members of Team HANÁK
Competition SUPERB STARS, mainly members of the Czech National Fly Fishing Team.
Each rod was designed and tested separately by the best fly- fishermen in each
discipline of fly-fishing.
The blanks have been made using the latest HI-CARBON technology and materials in
a special combination with NANO top-class filaments. Combining these blanks with
extra light super quality components, we have succeeded in reducing the overall
weight of these rods by about 30 % (up to 30 g) compared to conventional rods. The
rods have super thin FUJI SIC stripper guides and very durable and flexible titanium
single leg guides RECOIL Titanflex - made in USA. The perfect design of the rods is
underlined by the exclusive black real seat which incorporates an exotic wood insert.
The handle is made from the highest quality AAAA grade cork. The matt gold olive Antonín Pešek, World champion,
finish of the blank prevents the disturbance of spooky fish by reducing rod flash. Slovakia 2017
Each rod is supplied in a luxurious pentagon rod tube with separate compartments
for each rod section.

290 cm are suitable also for dry fly and wet fly fishing. Rods are made from high modulus quality carbon
and equipped with reversed half wells grips from high quality cork and light dark single leg fly guides.
The rods in size 320 cm are also equipped by cork fighting butt to balance rod during casting and to help
fight the fish. An exceptional rod action and high quality components both help to increase the hook set

Rod size selection according to the average
size of target fish on rivers
The reason I am writing this brief universal tutorial about the
selection of rods weight to suit both conditions and size of targeted
fish, is due to the amount of people asking me the same question
over and over again: “What #3 weight rod do you recommend for
targeting trophy rainbow and marble trout?” Playing a fish
The answer is easy – NONE! - correct angel of rod - incorrect
angel of rod
Here is my recommendation:
Target fish up to 30 cm - rod weight AFTMA #2
Target fish 30–40 cm - rod weight AFTMA #3
Target fish 40–50 cm - rod weight AFTMA #4
Target fish over 50 cm - rod weight AFTMA #5
Of course, even with a 3 weight rod you can tame a trophy sized fish over 60 cm, but in the process you will overload the rod (which
can snap the rod). However more importantly by prolonging the fight you can over play the fish which could lead to exhaustion
and significantly decrease its chance of survival when released.
Important factors for selection of rods are also the species of target fish, strength of the current and diversity of the river bed.
It is also necessary to choose appropriate strength of tippet and hook size.
An exception to the rule and a complete different approach which is competition fly fishing. With their experience and skills top
competitors can normally get a trophy fish in the net before it even knows its been hooked!
Rod lengths usually depends on the technique used, power of flow and how much room you have for casting and playing of the fish.
Streamer - mostly 275 cm / 9 ft
Dry fly - 275 cm / 9 ft and possibly in large rivers 290 cm / 9,6 ft
Wet fly - mostly 290 cm / 9.6 ft and smaller streams even 275 cm / 9 ft
Nymphing - mostly 305 cm / 10 ft, according to conditions 275–335 cm / 9–11 ft
I wish you many wonderful experiences out on the water, and please, keep in mind, that if you catch a fish you don’t want to be
the last person that gets to release it back into its watery home!
