Introducing… Greater Cranbourne Greater Cranbourne in the City of Casey local government area (LGA) consists of five currently developing suburbs, Cranbourne, Cranbourne North, South, East and West. Casey City, the most populated LGA in Victoria, lies in Melbourne’s south-eastern region. Melbourne is presently the fastest growing capital city in Australia, the second biggest city by population in Australia and in future, will become the nation’s largest city, with a population breaching 6 million in 2030. According to the Global Liveability Index in 2015, Melbourne, the capital city of Victoria, was the most liveable city in the world for the fifth year running. A survey undertaken by the Conde Nast Traveler Magazine in 2014 awarded Melbourne the title of ‘friendliest city in the world.’ Melbourne was also named the top Major City in Human Capital and Lifestyle, due to its high scores in categories like literacy rate and quality of life, in the 2014 Global Cities of the Future report. On top of these achievements, Melbourne is considered one of the education cities of Australia, as it’s home to 10 internationally-renown, top-class universities, was voted the second most student friendly city in the world in 2015 and is situated in Victoria, the second most educated state in Australia in 2011. Additionally, Melbourne is a globally recognised medical hub for its cancer research and treatment and is supported by Victoria’s status as an international leader in neuroscience, medical device design and infectious diseases. Considered one of the strongest performing financial centres in the Asia Pacific region, Melbourne is in the top 30 cities in the world on the Global Financial Centres Index. Its position in the global financial industry is aided by Australia’s biggest airport and busiest container port being situated in Melbourne and by the strength and quality of Victoria’s economy. It’s firstly, bigger than most south-east Asian nations and secondly, has maintained a triple A credit rating, the only state to have such a prestigious rating in Australia, for 10 years.
