Adirondack awakening Thirty-two years after acid rain left Lake Colden sterile, brook trout have returned to this 41-acre body of water in the Adirondack High Peaks Wilderness of New York State. This is the first time that a self-sustaining fish population has been discovered in a once-barren high Adirondack lake without stocking. The reason?
