1) Emergency Support –Recovery Packages South East Queensland Rainfall and Flooding, 22 February - 7 March 2022 Covering 19 local government areas of Brisbane, Fraser Coast, Gladstone, Gold Coast, Goondiwindi, Gympie, Ipswich, Lockyer Valley, Logan, Moreton Bay, Noosa, North Burnett, Redland, Scenic Rim, Somerset, South Burnett, Southern Downs, Sunshine Coast, and Toowoomba. Support for clean up • Small Business Recovery Package $50,000 - Grants for clean-up and repair effort of up to $50,000 are available to small businesses and not-for-profit organisations - an initial amount of up to $15K is available to support an initial claim and $35K is available to support subsequent claims for which full evidence of payment is required. These grants can be used to cover clean-up and reinstatement costs, including replacement of equipment that was damaged as a direct result of the floods. The grants do not cover the loss of income incurred during the event. Applications close 5 September 2022. • Help for flood affected communities | BizReBuild - A $2000 Retooling Voucher for the purchase of equipment (for example, tools of trade, key equipment or infrastructure) destroyed or damaged during an event. These vouchers are used for the replacement of essential equipment which assists the business in reopening or resuming operating. e.g., cash register in retail. (Please note: as of 8 April 2022, applications for new vouchers are on hold. Please visit the website to register on the wait list to apply) Apply here. Loans • Disaster assistance (essential working capital) loans of up to $100,000, Concessional loans are provided to assist you with essential working capital for expenses such as paying salaries or wages paying creditors paying rent or rates buying goods. Open until December 2023 • Disaster assistance loans of up to $250,000, concessional loans are provided to assist you to re-establish the normal operations of your primary production enterprise by covering costs such as repairing or replacing damaged equipment, repairing or replacing buildings, supplying stock for up to one month. Open until December 2023 Small Business BAS Extension • Flood support | Australian Taxation Office (ato.gov.au) - Automatic extension for BAS and instalment notices due 28 February 2022 or 21 March 2022 to 28 March 2022 (no-need to request a lodgment deferral if they are able to lodge by that date) for small business and individual taxpayers in affected local government areas (LGAs) in Queensland and New South Wales. 1) Emergency Support – Personal Support Financial Support – for Personal Lost Income • Centrelink | Disaster Recovery Allowance is a short-term payment (for a maximum of 13 weeks) to help you following the South East Queensland Floods in February 2022, if this disaster has directly affected your income. Financial Support – for Personal Household Damage • Queensland Government | Emergency Hardship Assistance Grants available of up to $180 per person, or $900 for a family of five or more residents in those affected local government areas who have been impacted by severe flooding over recent days. These grants help cover the costs of essential items, such as food, medication and clothing. • Queensland Government | Essential Household Contents Grants of up to $1765 for single adults and up to $5,300 for couples/families are available. These grants are for those who are uninsured, or unable to claim insurance to help with replacing or repairing essential household contents, such as beds, linen and white goods, that have been lost or damaged in a disaster • Centrelink | Disaster Recovery Payment (DRP) of $1000 per eligible adult and $400 per eligible child to support people impacted by the South East Queensland flooding event. The DRP is a one-off, non-means tested payment for those who have suffered a significant loss, including a severely damaged or destroyed home or serious injury. • Queensland Government | Housing help after a disaster Anyone impacted by the flood event can apply for housing assistance, including homeowners and private renters, by visiting www.qld.gov.au or calling 13QGOV (13 74 68). Mental Health Support for Small Business Owners • More important now than ever, NewAccess for Small Business Owners is a free and confidential mental health coaching program available to help business owners manage stress and obtain practical skills to work through that stress and associated problems, run by trained coaches who also come from small business backgrounds. 1) Emergency Support – Additional Resources Other Resources • Legal Aid Queensland - Natural disaster legal help • Help with insurance after a natural disaster | Business Queensland Recovery Disaster Hubs • Queensland natural disaster assistance | Business Queensland • Small business disaster hub | Business Queensland CCIQ Helplines for Business • The Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland (CCIQ) HR and Export Helplines has been made available for free in the next week for any businesses impacted by the recent heavy rain and flooding across SEQ. Businesses can call 1300 731 988 which is staffed by CCIQs experienced HR advisors. Free support extended until March 31st 2022. Banking Contacts for Flood Relief • Don’t tough it out on your own - there are practical ways your bank can help you out of financial difficulty. Contact your bank as soon as you can. NewAccess for Small Business owners’ program Funded until December Free and confidential mental health coaching program to build resilience for small business owners. Over six sessions, 2022 coaches with a small business background will work with you to overcome difficult issues, providing you with practical skills to manage stress and get you back to feeling like yourself. Digital Solutions Program - $44 for 7 hours of support and training The Digital Solutions programs pairs you with a dedicated business mentor and gives you access to one-to-one advice, world- class workshops, and online webinars on everything from social media and marketing to bookkeeping and business planning. Female Founders Impact Program (impactinnovation.com) The Female Founders Impact Program is designed to assist Queensland women at different stages of the entrepreneurial lifecycle, through networking events, educational webinars, professional development workshops and one-on-one business mentoring. Mentoring for Growth (M4G) program | Business Queensland Free access to volunteer business experts who provide insights, options and suggestions relating to challenges and opportunities you are experiencing in your business. Eligibility criteria: an Australian business number (ABN); Queensland headquarters or significant Queensland operations; a business plan in place; commenced business operations; and a specific business opportunity or challenge to discuss. Small Business Skills Hub | GO1 Free online training and learning opportunities for small business owners with less than 20 staff with a registered ABN. Courses are bite sized learning that works for small businesses, with interactive modules ranging from 5-30 minutes. Business | State Library Of Queensland (slq.qld.gov.au) The Queensland State Library provides members with access to a wide range of business information resources available online state-wide, free. Items include general business books, eBooks on entrepreneurship, IBISWorld industry research reports, Nexis Practical Guidance legal series, Lynda.com for online upskilling as well as links to a curated list of State and Federal government business sites. The Lord Mayor's Multicultural Business Scholarship Program and Mentoring Scheme | Brisbane City Council Provides business training and mentoring opportunities for Brisbane CALD residents from multicultural backgrounds. Improve knowledge and skills to establish or grow a business in its early stages or participate in a 12-month program with monthly workshops which assists exiting business owners to grow their businesses. Strengthening Business | business.gov.au Closes 30 Jun 2023 Strengthening Business connects you with experts to make your business stronger, more resilient and better prepared for the Recovery future. The program in Queensland is run by facilitators from Deloitte and is for small businesses (anyone with an ABN) located in regions impacted by flood or fire emergencies. Business in Ipswich - Events | Ipswich City Council Business Ipswich and our partners are delivering workshops, training and events around the Ipswich region including Fire Station 101 Business Innovation Hub, Springfield and Rosewood Libraries. Workshops are targeted at supporting and growing businesses at all stages; start-up, scaling or relocating. Temporary relaxation of working hours for student visa holders (homeaffairs.gov.au) To be reviewed April The government has removed the 40-hour fortnightly limit applied during study periods for Student Visa holders employed in the 2022 tourism and hospitality sector. 5) Employment and Hiring Employing already – Check out these financial incentives and benefits Back to Work - For Employers | Queensland Government Payments of up to $20,000 are available for eligible employers hiring eligible unemployed Queenslanders in regional Queensland or areas of South East Queensland experiencing significant labour market challenges. JobTrainer Fund information for employers | Queensland Government Short courses and lower-level qualifications (up to certificate III) will be fully funded by the Queensland Government, with eligible students required to pay no fee.
