YOUR ACCOUNT BALANCE MUST BE CURRENT with tuition, ticket fee, and costume fee payments made prior to picking up your costume(s). You can email prodigydanceoffice@gmail.com with any inquiries regarding your account status. NEW THIS YEAR!!! @ PICK UP DAY! ONE STOP CONCERT SHOp @ YOUR CONCERT COSTUME PICK UP! This year, you will have the opportunity to order all of your favorite concert goodies at the costume pick up event. Concert flowers, program ads, T-shirts, and videos will all be available to order during your costume pick up day! The PRODIGY Faculty will be there to help you place your orders and answer any questions that you may have! What do I need to do with my dancer’s costume(s) after I pick it up? Have your dancer try on her/his costume as soon as they receive it. Your student’s costume was ordered based on measurements taken in October paired with the size chart that each manufacturer provided. Some costumes will fit perfectly while others may need alterations to fit right. Some costumes will require hemming or elastic shoulder strap stitching. Please make sure that alterations are taken care of for costumes in need of adjustments by the end of April. Most costumes will require light steaming or pressing, due to shipping and packaging. Thank you for your time and preparation to ensure all costumes are stage performance ready upon arrival at the theater. Do we need specific tights for the concert? A costume sheet for each dance is available at prodigydancecentrega.com under the tab “2018 SPRING RECITAL.” On these costume sheets you will find specifics on the required tights, accessories, shoes, and additional costume notes from your teacher for each dance. Costume sheets are sorted by day of the week and room number. You can find your class day, and time on the left hand side of the costume sheet.
Concert Hair & Makeup CONCERT HAIR & MAKEUP 3 Reasons to wear Stage Makeup for Dance Performances 1. Distance between the performer and the audience: Your makeup actually needs to be dark enough for your features to be visible to the first 8 – 12 rows of the theater. 2. Intense stage lighting: Stage lighting can really “flatten” your features and take away all of the dimensions that help the audience see your facial expressions clearly. Stage makeup can be seen under colorful, intense stage lighting – it won’t disappear when the lights hit you. 3. Decorative costuming: Your performance makeup is part of your costume Dancers use their craft to tell a story for the audience, projecting emotions, words and ideas with their movements. The ability to wordlessly translate their feelings for the crowd is a refined skill. Dancers need to use their whole bodies and the expressions on their faces to help convey the emotions of the moment. But with the bright, shinning lights flooding the stage, it’s easy for dancers’ expressions to be washed out. That means the subtle nuances that are essential for setting the tone for their story to be over-looked. For younger dancers, having well-applied stage makeup for kids makes all the difference. By highlighting dancers’ facial features, it makes it easier for the audience to see their expressions. It’s important and long-standing tradition in the community for dancers to include stage makeup as a routine component of their costumes. For stage makeup application tips, visit: https://www.tututix.com/stage-makeup-for-kids-how-to-do-recital-makeup-on-young-danc- ers/?utm_source=Pinterest&utm_medium=Referral&utm_campaign=Dancers How should my dancer’s hair be worn? The required hair style and instructions can be found on the costume sheet for each dance. A costume sheet for each dance is available at www.prodigydancecentrega.com under the tab “2018 SPRING RECITAL” Costume sheets are sorted by day of the week in the website document. You can find your class day and time on the left hand side of the costume sheet. Please reach out to your TEACHER if you need help or guidance on your student’s assigned concert hair style.

CONCERT STAGE MOM CREW Join our Prodigy Stage Mom Crew Join our PRODIGY stage mom crew! Calling ALL PRODIGY SUPER MOMMAS! We need YOU BACKSTAGE!! Why are stage moms a necessity to the concert? Each class MUST have at least one Stage Mom for the students to be properly chaperoned during the performance. Being a PRODIGY Stage Mom is an extremely rewarding experience for the mom as well as an exceptional way to support your child and her/his classmates. Volunteering is a fun way to help with the concert and share each moment of event excitement with your student. Stage Moms will be accepted on a first-come basis. Combined classes and large classes will need two stage moms. Stage Mom duties include: • Help relay information to other parents in the class and answer their questions when possible. • Help with your class at dress rehearsal. PERK!!! While the students are on stage rehearsing the stage mom can video or take photos from the front row. Stage Moms will watch from the stage wings at the concert performance. • Help with your class backstage during the concert performance. This includes overseeing your class for the entire show, helping them on and off stage, and monitoring your class when they are not performing. Concert Dress Rehearsal Concert Dress Rehearsal When is dress rehearsal? Your dress rehearsal will take place on Friday May 4th. Your dancer should arrive “stage ready” in their costume (with a cover up) and in full hair and make up for the dress rehearsal 20 min before the start of the rehearsal. The dress rehearsal process involves many different elements of production. Please be flexible on dress rehearsal day as we professionally prepare our dancers, stage crew, and choreographers. How should my dancer arrive for dress rehearsal? PRODIGY strives to cultivate an environment of young professionals who appreciate the entire production process. Requiring appropriate costume cover-ups for our cast is part of that training process. Performers should always wear a cover-up over their costume when entering and exiting the building. An oversized white button up dress shirt is an ideal option that will not interfere with hair and make up preparation while providing length for good costume coverage. Your dancer should arrive “stage ready” in their costume (with cover-up) and in full hair and make up for the dress rehearsal. Where do I drop my dancer off for the dress rehearsal? The dancer needs to be dropped off at the backstage door were our Stage Manager will check you in. On dress rehearsal night everyone will go to the audience and wait to be called backstage to their dressing room. Once everyone is situated in his or her dressing rooms we will start the rehearsal. On performance day each dancer will come in the backstage door and check in with our Stage Manager and then go directly to their dressing room. No one will be allowed in the theater lobby on dress rehearsal night. Who can attend dress rehearsal? All dress rehearsals are closed to the general public, extended family member, and friends. ONLY the parents/guardians of the students performing in the concert will be allowed to watch and video record their dancer’s dress rehearsal from the “PARENT ZONE” section. This roped off section will be the last two rows of the theater. Parents will be ushered in and out of the dress rehearsal by a PRODIGY faculty member through the side entrance. The auditorium is dark so have your cameras ready to operate prior to entering the theater. There is not an electrical power source nearby. NO ONE (other than the performers, PRODIGY faculty, and the stage mom) will be permitted past the “PARENT ZONE” section or near the stage area. If for any reason the “PARENT ZONE” creates a distraction for the dancers, the PRODIGY faculty will close the section. Why are dress rehearsals limited to parents only? A closed rehearsal allows the students to give full attention to their teachers and production crew during their allotted stage time. Limiting interruptions allows the cast and crew to create a productive rehearsal, maintain the rehearsal schedule, and produce a show with intentional professionalism.
Concert Performance Expectations Concert Performance Expectations When and where does my dancer go before, during, and after the concert performance? Before YOUR PERFORMANCE: All dancers need to be at the theater in costume (with cover-up), hair, and make up no later than 2:00pm. Dancers need to be dropped off at the 1st ave. stage door where they will be checked in and taken to their dressing room by the Stage Mom. Due to space limitations and security protocol parents will not be allowed in the dress- ing room or backstage area. After dropping your dancer, please join our other concert guests through the main entrance of the theater. During THE PERFORMANCE: During the show, students will remain together, on and off stage, with their class and Stage Mom. If they are in more than one dance the Stage Mom of the first dance will make sure your dancer gets ready for their next dance. Our teachers will also be backstage to help with costume changes and quick changes. PERFORMANCE DISMISSAL EXPECTATIONS: Young students (Pre K classes & Hippity Hoppity) who perform before intermission will be released to their parents at intermission. Parents will come back to the backstage door entrance and pickup their kids. If your dancer would like to experience the second act of the concert from the audience, they will need to wear a cover-up. Students will not need a ticket to watch the concert. All other dancers will take part in our final curtain call bow and will not be released from their dressing rooms until after the curtain call. The RiverCenter dismissal security protocol requires complete compli- ance by PRODIGY dancers and faculty. There will be no exceptions to the pick up and drop off procedures listed above. After THE PERFORMANCE & CURTAIN CALL: After the show parents will meet their dancer in the backstage waiting area When will the theater doors open for the concert? Doors open at 2:00 sharp. We ask that you help us ensure the most professional atmosphere possible for our dancers and concert guests. There will be no entering or exiting the theater while a performance is taking place on stage. Is there an intermission during the concert? There will be a 15 minute intermission during the show. Please show your admiration and appreciation for each dancer with applause, but do not shout names or yell during the per- formance. The theatre is a great environment for energy and excitement, we appreciate your etiquette and good judgment with celebration from the audience. Why is video recording not allowed during the concert? PRODIGY dance does not allow video recording or flash photography during our shows for safety reasons as well as courtesy to others. Cameras make it difficult for others to see the stage clearly and distract those around you with screen illuminations. The ushers monitor the “no camera policy” carefully.
