report on parental mental health. Findings from the study, based on data from over 6,000 UK parents, include: parental stress and depression were elevated during the first lockdown (when most children were home-schooled) and reduced when the lockdown restrictions eased in the summer. However, parental stress, depression, and anxiety increased between November and December when new national restrictions were introduced; and higher levels of stress, depression, and anxiety were reported by parents from single adult households and low-income families, as well as those who have children with SEND. Working for Babies The Parent-Infant Foundation has published a report looking at the impact of the Spring 2020 national lockdown on babies, and how local systems responded to the challenges of the coronavirus crisis. Working for babies: Lockdown lessons from local systems Digital inclusion in mental health: a guide to help improve access to digital mental health services The Association of Mental Health Providers has published Digital inclusion in mental health: a guide to help improve access to digital mental health services. In the wake of Covid-19, the use of remote or digital mental health services was accelerated or adopted to ensure individuals who need services could continue to access support. This guide aims to help mental health service providers ensure all individuals in need of mental health services have choice in the care they receive, and nobody is excluded due to a lack of digital access, confidence or skills. Alzheimer’s society Wakefield The start of pandemic, we had to act quickly to ensure that people with dementia and their loved ones will continue receiving the vital support at the time of their needs. Shortly after start of pandemic, we have decided to close our local office at Wakefield to put more resources into what was more important to people with dementia. Although we do not have an office at Wakefield our services are busier than ever and we are continuing to offer services to people with dementia, carers, relatives, friends and communities across the Wakefield district. Our Dementia Support Workers are working from home, providing person centred advice and support via phone calls. The team can continue to provide specialist support in this way, whilst adhering to the latest government guidelines regarding social distancing. In addition to their usual services, the Wakefield Alzheimer’s Society is now: • Offering regular welfare calls to vulnerable and isolated individuals by Dementia Support Workers • Offering wider companion calls through volunteers for people that are isolated or lonely (available to both people with dementia and carers). • Offering virtual Singing for the Brain sessions every Wednesday afternoon, 4pm-5pm. These sessions use singing to bring people with dementia together for a friendly and stimulating activity. • Offering an Introduction to Dementia virtual drop in, alternate Tuesdays 12.00pm - 1.15pm. The team accept self-referrals for welfare and companion calls from anyone affected by dementia, and referrals from other professionals where consent has been given. You can contact the Society, Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm, by: • Telephone 01924 373264 / 07872 503419 • Email wakefield@alzheimers.org.uk tleach@wakefield.gov.uk Page 7 of 10

We're encouraging those who have found their screen time has increased, to adopt the 20-20-20 rule to help prevent eye strain. The rule recommends that for every 20 minutes spent using a screen, you should try to look at something that is 20 feet away from you, for a total of 20 seconds. Regular eye tests are also hugely important, and remember, the majority of opticians are open for appointments throughout lockdown restrictions.
