Felix Ohswald Co-Founder & CEO, GoStudent Felix Ohswald is the Co-Founder and CEO of GoStudent, the Vienna-headquartered digital learning platform providing tailored, high quality video-based tuition to primary, secondary and college-aged students. In November 2020, Felix was featured in the Forbes “30 under 30” list. First conceived in 2015, the company started out as a homework chat service, managed via WhatsApp. Felix, aged 21 at the time, was completing his Master’s degree in Quantitative Finance at ETH Zurich. His younger brother, Moritz, was also studying, and began referring his classmates to Felix for support with their maths homework. Given his expertise in the subject, Felix quickly became the go-to expert for Moritz’s whole year group, who would regularly text him when struggling or confused. Felix was quickly surprised by the volume of messages he was receiving, and was concerned by the fact that there appeared to be a distinct lack of support for these students. He resolved to address this issue, keen to inspire in them a passion for learning that matched his own and find a solution to a fundamental and global problem: access to top teachers. It was with this mission in mind that Felix reached out to his friend Gregor Müller, GoStudent’s Co-Founder and COO, and proposed that together they build a dedicated homework support app, where users could be connected with motivated and inspiring tutors and would receive high- quality support. GoStudent was subsequently founded in 2016, with the app launching that summer. Felix was able to draw on his wealth of academic experience when developing the company. Prior to co-founding GoStudent, he studied at a number of prestigious universities. At the age of 14, Felix embarked upon a Mathematics degree at the University of Vienna. This was undertaken whilst Felix continued with his wider school studies. Felix then went on to complete a further degree in Mathematics at the University of Cambridge, graduating in 2014. From day one, Felix and Gregor’s goal has been to connect students with their ideal teacher, allowing them to learn in a way that best suits them, unlocking their true potential. What started as a homework chat evolved into a 1:1 tutoring platform, where students could receive tailored support. In taking tutoring online and pairing students with the best teacher for them, regardless of geographical location, GoStudent is revolutionising the international tutoring market, and aims to build the number 1 global school. Matthew Scullion Founder, Matillion Matthew is founder and CEO of Matillion. He co-founded his first startup at age 18. Before starting Matillion in 2011, Matthew worked in commercial IT and software development for 15 years at a number of British and European systems integrators. Matillion Matillion exists because we believe in a few fundamental truths: Every business is a data business; given the volume and complexity of today’s data, the only place you can process it efficiently (and cost-effectively) is in the cloud; in the cloud, you must have three elements in order to capture and compete with data: cloud data pipelines, cloud data storage, and an easy-to-use data transformation platform. Matillion provides the cloud-native data integration and transformation platform that organizations need to turn their raw data into competitive BI, data science, and operational analytics initiatives. 33
