Shooting ranges are specialized facilities designed for firearms practice for civil and military applications. Use-of-force training is provided through shooting range simulation that develops the requisite skills for personnel armed with both, lethal and less-lethal weapons. Indoor shooting ranges are popular among law enforcement agencies and are used to train and certify federal law enforcement personnel. In many shooting ranges, only bullets with lower than .50 caliber are permitted. A Tactical Engagement Simulation System (TESS) is a training platform to use weapons. In modern TESS systems, laser transmitters are mounted on the weapon and aligned with its barrel, instead of bullets or short-range guided weapons. The military uses simulation technology or shooting ranges to cut costs and provide efficient training to its troops. TESS provides a realistic weapons effect for all types of weapons and assesses the weapons’ effect experienced during live training and real-combat exercises, using weapon and battlefield sensors. ___________ 1. Micromarkets are defined as the further segments and sub-segments of the global shooting ranges market included in the report. 2. Core-competencies of the companies have been captured in terms of their key developments, SWOT analysis, and key strategies adopte d to sustain their position in the market. 2 © MarketsandMarkets

SHOOTING RANGES MARKET- FORECAST TO 2020 1.4 CURRENCY & PRICING The pricing of the systems considered in this study for market revenue estimates have been measured at both, the manufacturer and end-user levels in order to calculate average selling prices. The currency considered in this study to measure the market uniformly at each level is U.S. dollars. The base year for currency conversion considered is 2014. Inflation is not part of the pricing as the aggregate inflation effect of all the currencies will nullify the inflation effect of each currency in the long-run. For companies reporting their revenue in U.S. dollars, the revenue was taken from their annual reports For companies that reported their revenue in other currencies, an average annual currency conversion rate was used for the particular year, to convert the value to U.S. dollars 1.5 DISTRIBUTION CHANNEL PARTICIPANTS In the shooting ranges market, the direct distribution channel is preferred. This is because it is sold as a unit to the end users. It may or may not require direct involvement of the manufacturers in the supply chain. Shooting range systems needs integration and configuration in training and simulation platforms. This is directly carried out by the manufacturers at the buyers’ end. 1.6 LIMITATIONS The following limitations were faced during the research study on the shooting ranges market: PARAMETERS DESCRIPTION Some companies in this market are privately-owned and their revenues are not available in the public domain. Revenue of Market Players Hence, market revenue of those companies are not included in the report. Limited positive response was received from primaries in the Middle East and African regions. SHOOTING RANGES MARKET- FORECAST TO 2020 2.2.2.2 Cold Wars, Territorial Disputes, and Political Conflicts To assess the impact of increasing disputes and conflicts across the globe, a sample set of 10 major countries in each region were selected for analysis. Data pertaining to these countries include the number of conflicts, amount of ammunitions used, number of firearms imported and exported, and total arms manufactured during the ongoing conflicts. Then, current statistics of each of the aforementioned parameter were studied to ascertain the future impact of these factors by 2020. The expected changes in the frequency of these parameters were determined using multiple sources such as Annual Firearms Manufacturing and Export Report (AFMER), Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), and Federation of American Scientists (FAS) among others. The increase in worldwide conflicts was used to project the increase in demand for firearms training and virtual simulation across the globe. Conflicts and armed violence have led to increase in demand for shooting ranges and live, virtual, and constructive training. Factors such as political and socio-economic instability have led to a rise in demand for efficient training of military forces. The shooting ranges market is witnessing a rise in demand for indoor and outdoor products to prepare soldiers for mirror-like combat situations. Territorial disputes and political conflicts provide an opportunity for the shooting ranges market to flourish as military forces globally are investing to maintain combat efficiency.
