5 Social Report 2020 Lottozero is an international research and networking center for textile design, art and culture in Prato, Italy. LOTTOZERO
6 Social Report 2020 Lottozero operates both as a creative hub and as a consultancy studio. Our headquarters occupy a total of 400-sqm in a former warehouse in the Macrolottozero area of Prato and are divided into a gallery/exhibition area, a shared studio space/coworking and an open fab-lab for textile production, experimentation and research. The work we do in our CREATIVE HUB is aimed primarily at creative people operating in textile and fashion, it responds to their need for space, their need for comparison with other creators and access to information which is not available online. We also provide feedback, tutorship and the possibility to live and exhibit in this environment. We support the development of emerging talents and brands through scouting and residencies in our headquarters and by facilitating the exchange between them and the traditional companies of our district. We initiate an exchange between traditional textile companies, by showing them new means for creative innovation, and designers, by putting them in contact with companies who have the necessary technical know-how to produce their creations. We are strongly present online using social media to network and publish information about the textile world that surrounds us and inspires us. LOTTOZERO
8 Social Report 2020 MISSION Our mission is to create a fertile environment for textile research and experimentation in design and art, and an international base for networking in the textile sector. VALUES Lottozero cannot ignore the values that permeate every single project: collective vision, inclusion, sharing, quality, openness, economic and environmental sustainability, and a non-profit mentality. The project is part of a global vision on the importance of quality and quality production in all areas, which aims to stimulate the use of good design, the use of shared tools and the return to old craftsmanship, for example by blending it with digital culture. Lottozero sees sustainability as the opposite of a trend. In fact we see it as a long-term mentality that should pervade all aspects of a company’s life, resulting in a radical (re)evaluation of its objectives and values and inducing structural changes. Lottozero is a cooperative, by ideological choice, non-profit, open to all, and over time, it foresees the growth of the number of members who will want to share our mission. LOTTOZERO

38 Social Report 2020 CIRCULAR WOOL 01/2017 – 2020 Circular Wool is an on-going research project in collaboration with R.S. Ricerca e Servizi. The project aims to transform a waste material, wool from local dairy sheep farms, which is disposed of at high environmental and economic costs, into a circular textile raw material. The wool recovered and processed in the Prato textile district thus becomes a material for textile use to be applied in furnishing fabrics and interior products such as curtains, carpets and panels. The project operates through partnerships with host-brands and the design and production of circular and innovative products. The added value is given through a high level of design applied to the product that helps to convey the concept of circularity and the short supply chain approach of the raw material, in communication and storytelling of the final product. 54 Social Report 2020 RESIDENCIES The artistic residencies, for research and production of works and interventions related to textiles, are the area in which the potential of a space like Lottozero in the field of contemporary art is most evident. Their success is due to the technical skills of the team, the textile laboratory and the vast and constantly growing network of contacts built over the years with companies in the textile district functioning as a real laboratory spread throughout the territory. 61 Social Report 2020 Community DESIGNER Since 2014 Lottozero has built a solid community of designers with whom it is constantly in contact and involved in projects of an experimental, commercial and educational nature. We do research, visit universities, trade fairs, research centers and creative hubs throughout Europe, offering networking opportunities and active participation. This allows us to update, cultivate relationships and exchange knowledge with each other, thus contributing to innovate and spread the textile culture. To date, our community has over 300 international fashion, textile and interior designers. A fundamental part of our work with the community of designers is to support them in their growth and to promote their work. We have purposely created an online store, a hybrid space between a gallery and a real shop for the display of projects, ideas and objects that we consider valuable and innovative, from an aesthetic, conceptual and process point of view.
