Horizon Europe ERC STARTING GRANTS Open for submission Horizon Europe – European Research Council Topic: Applications may be made in any field of research Types of action: ERC-STG Call identifier: ERC-2021-StG Starting Grant Opening date: 25 February ERC Starting Grants are designed to support excellent Principal Investigators at the career 2021 stage at which they are starting their own independent research team or programme. Deadline: 8 April 2021 Applicant Principal Investigators must demonstrate the ground-breaking nature, ambition and feasibility of their scientific proposal. The Principal Investigator shall have been awarded their first PhD at least 2 and up to 7 years. The Principal Investigator shall have been awarded their first PhD over 7 and up to 12 years. A competitive Consolidator Grant Principal Investigator must have already shown research independence and evidence of maturity, for example by having produced several important publications as main author or without the participation of their PhD supervisor. Applicant Principal Investigators should also be able to demonstrate a promising track record of early achievements appropriate to their research field and career stage, including significant publications (as main author) in major international peer-reviewed multidisciplinary scientific journals, or in the leading international peer-reviewed journals of their respective field. stage at which they are already established research leaders with a recognised track record of research achievements. Applicant Principal Investigators must demonstrate the ground- breaking nature, ambition and feasibility of their scientific proposal. A competitive Advanced Grant Principal Investigator must have already shown a record which identifies them as an exceptional leader in terms of originality and significance of their research contributions. Thus, in most fields, Principal Investigators of Advanced Grant proposals will be expected to demonstrate a record of achievements appropriate to the field and at least matching one or more of the following benchmarks: 10 publications as main author (or in those fields where alphabetic order of authorship is the norm, joint author) in major international peer-reviewed multidisciplinary scientific journals, and/or in the leading international peer-reviewed journals and peer-reviewed conferences proceedings of their respective field; 3 major research monographs. This benchmark is relevant to research fields where publication of monographs is the norm. Other alternative benchmarks that may be considered (individually or in combination) as indicative of an exceptional record and recognition in the last 10 years: 5 granted patents; 10 invited presentations in well established internationally organised conferences and advanced schools; 3 research expeditions led by the applicant Principal Investigator; 3 well-established international conferences or congresses where the applicant was involved in their organisation as a member of the steering and/or organising committee; International recognition through scientific or artistic prizes/awards or membership in well-regarded Academies or artefact with documented use (for example, architectural or engineering design, methods or tools); Major contributions to launching the careers of outstanding researchers; Recognised leadership in industrial innovation. Read more on: https://erc.europa.eu/funding/advanced-grants Horizon 2020 CORE ORGANIC COFUND THIRD RESEARCH CALL ON ‘ORGANIC FARMING SYSTEMS FOR Horizon 2020 - Joint IMPROVED MIXED PLANT AND ANIMAL PRODUCTION’ Open for submission Transnational Call for Proposals Topics: Sub-topic 1: Robust and resilient mixed animal farming systems; Sub-topic 2: Support for Types of action: collaborative robust and resilient crop production systems; Sub-topic 3: Eco-efficient production and use of projects animal feed at local level Opening date: 11 January Call identifier: CORE Organic 2021 2021 Deadline: 8 March 2021 The overall objective for the CO Cofund Third Call 2021 is that the proposed research projects support the further development of the organic sector in Europe and beyond. The expected impacts focus on organic food systems including mixed farming practices, supporting animal health and welfare, innovative cropping and production systems as well as feed production and biodiversity, aiming at accomodating the growing demand for more organic products, supporting the organic farming regulations, the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), the EU Farm-to-Fork and the Biodiversity Strategies. The funded projects should present new and innovative solutions to environmentally friendly agriculture. Moreover, they should contribute to supporting human health, trade and job creation and the improvement of the general competitiveness of the agricultural sector. Read more on: https://projects.au.dk/coreorganiccofund/core-organic-2021-call/ SUSCROP- ERA-NET Forthcoming Horizon 2020 - Joint Call for Proposals Topic: Circularity in mixed crop and livestock farming systems, with emphasis on greenhouse Types of action: transnational gas mitigation R&I projects Call identifier: SusCrop (Sustainable Crop Production) Opening date: February 2021 Deadline: May 2021 This call is about research on (re-) integration of crop and livestock farming systems with the aim to enhance circularity between these systems and thereby improve the sustainability of farms. Proposals must: a) Focus on mixed crop-livestock farming systems. These systems can occur within single farms or can be achieved by connecting separate crop and livestock farms. b) Address the monitoring and/or mitigation of GHGs from agriculture or agroforestry. c) Contain an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) dimension, for example the use of sensors, communication technologies, data analytics, modelling, robotics, precision farming or decision support systems. d) Take a systems approach. The circular economy approach to mixed crop-livestock production will include synergy and complementarity with sectors such as environmental protection. Il Ministero delle Politiche Agricole, Alimentari e Forestali (MIPAAF) ha indetto l'apertura di un bando per progetti di ricerca in tema di agricoltura biologica, per il quale è stato stanziato un budget di 4.200.000 euro. Il bando vuole incentivare la ricerca in un settore che in Italia ha sperimentato negli ultimi 10 anni un aumento del 79% delle terre coltivate secondo il metodo bio, dato che pone il paese al 1° posto in Europa per numero di agricoltori biologici. I progetti dovranno perseguire il miglioramento delle produzioni, l'innovazione dei processi produttivi, il trasferimento tecnologico, la fruizione e diffusione dei risultati della ricerca e la diffusione dei benefici e vantaggi dell'agricoltura biologica. Tra i requisiti vi è anche il coinvolgimento diretto di almeno un'azienda agricola biologica o biodinamica per sperimentare l'applicazione dei risultati. Il contributo massimo per proposta sarà di 300.000 euro, per un cofinanziamento massimo del 90%. Possono partecipare Università ed Enti pubblici in qualità di soggetti proponenti. La partecipazione in qualità di partner è estesa anche agli Enti privati che hanno tra gli scopi statutari la ricerca e la sperimentazione e senza fini di lucro.
