     The Lead Awards are for Germany's media professionals what the
     Oscars are for actors: the highest distinction one can receive. In
     December 2019, the jury of the prize, which has been awarded
     since 1993, honoured the best newspaper makers and editors-in-
     chief in Hamburg - and caused great excitement among Hamburg
     media.
     Particularly at the Hamburger Abendblatt: Editor-in-Chief Lars
     Haider was voted as “chief editor of the year" in the “regional
     newspaper" category for the first time and was overjoyed: "2019
     was a year full of great ideas and projects at the Hamburger
     Abendblatt, starting with our podcasts and the filming of the basic

     The Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung (WAZ) is the leading daily newspaper in each of the
