Douglas archive room while you are there. Tommy Douglas Statue Located on Highway #39 East at the Boardwalk Proudly memorializing the “Father of Medicare”; the bronze statue stands on the riverbank along the Riverfront Boardwalk. Produced by sculptor Leah Vivot as a tribute to the long standing premier of Saskatchewan (1944-1961) who began his career in Weyburn. Turner Curling Museum 327 Mergens Street NW Touted as “first in the world”, this unique museum is of interest to curlers and non-curlers alike. The collection features many rare historical curling pieces. Hunting & Fishing Sports and Recreation Weyburn and the surrounding area are the ideal stop for your next hunting and fishing get away. From world-class walleye fishing to unbeatable upland game, waterfowl and big game Southeast Saskatchewan has everything you need for an exceptional outdoors adventure. Hunting Some of the finest upland hunting can be found just south of Weyburn. Hunters from across North America travel to the region to hunt Hungarian Partridge, Sharptail Grouse. As well, come late fall, Weyburn is home to a very healthy population of waterfowl. Canadian residents can find exceptional big game opportunities including white tail deer, moose and elk. A fish cleaning area is supplied. There are two boat launch areas and a floating dock for loading and unloading passengers. Prize walleye and big pike await in over 55 km of the Rafferty Reservoir, half and hour east of Weyburn. OUTDOORS Outdoors Jubilee Park 1st Ave NE The park boasts several ball diamonds, soccer and football fields, jogging and walking paths, tennis courts, picnic areas and a playground. Tatagwa Parkway Trail System Weyburn’s picturesque Tatagwa trail system and parks are an ideal place to walk your dog, go for a run, ride your bike, or boost your happiness by simply observing nature’s beauty. Tatagwa Parkway consists of two areas – the Signal Hill Nature Habitat and the Red Coat Nature Habitat, which are protected from vehicle traffic. River Park Spray Park Outdoors Located in River Park, right off Confederation Drive Features a large dump bucket, multiple spray elements and ground sprayers. Weyburn Community Dog Park 1st Ave NW at Aylmer St The fenced park is 2.8 acres and provides separate areas for large and small dogs. The dog park provides a safe environment for dogs to exercise and socialize. Weyburn Therapeutic Animal Park Inc. Souris Valley Road (on the grounds of Tatagwa View) Run by a volunteer board of directors, a wide variety of animals present at the park, from goats, to ponies and many different birds. The park is open to everyone to come meet, learn about and enjoy the animals at no cost. The park is open annually to the public during the summer months. Young Fellows Paddling Pool 1300 Coteau Ave NE This supervised paddling pool offers fun for the whole family. Washrooms are available during operation hours. Snowmobile Winter Activities CLUB & TRAILS Since connecting trails with Stoughton in 2004, the local snowmobile club in Weyburn, SK has seen a rise in sledders. 200 KM of trail that connects Weyburn with the towns of Griffin, Creelman, Corning and Stoughton, as well as Moose Mountain Snowmobile Club trail system. Throughout the trail system, the scenic view will change from fields and pastures to rolling hills. A very popular ride is a loop that starts at a staging area just east of the city, where the Weyburn shelter is located. The Weyburn shelter was newly built in 2009 and consists of an insulated building with good wood stoves and 12-volt lighting. The shelter also offers washrooms, fire pits, and BBQs. This is the perfect stop for lunch during your ride, bring the hot dogs with you, as hot dog sticks are also provided. With sponsorships and the support of the City, the snowmobile club and trails continue to grow. Just like any sledder, the residents and visitors are always eager to get that first snowflake!
