STEFANO BOLLANI PIANO SOLO Availability: Generally Available Line-up: Stefano Bollani (piano) Piano Solo, rather than a traditional piano concert, it is an homage to the art of improvisation. From the very moment Stefano Bollani gets on the stage to perform his one-man show, anything could happen. There is no set list, no theatre schedule to help follow the tracks succession. The spectator is dragged into a new adventure every evening, a breathless trip through (only apparent) far musical horizons. It is therefore no surprise to jump from Bach to the Beatles, from Stravinsky to Brazilian rhythms, with sudden intrusions in the world of pop music or in the Italian repertoire of the Forties. In this authentic musical stream of consciousness, laugh and emotion mix up. Only one thing is guaranteed, that at the end of the concert the audience will decide for seconds. Bollani diligently writes down and plays the requested tracks on the spot: an unpredictable medley in which virtuosity mixes up with irreverence. They released a live recording ‘O que sera’ published by ECM. Hamilton is a transgressor of the instrument (10 strings mandolin) and creator of a revolutionary technique, the press in the USA immediately called him "Jimmy Hendrix of the mandolin", the French "Prince of the mandolin" and the Brazilian "king". Having a profound knowledge of the tradition of samba, choro and the plethora of other popular music of his country, he is also an extremely likeable mandolin virtuoso. Napoli Trip is not just a simple personal tribute. It is a multifaceted concert, an ensemble that sees the participation of great international talents. First of all, of the composer and saxophonist Daniele Sepe, one of the greatest exponents of Naples folk music, which is open and filled with life. CONCERTO AZZURRO Availability: Upon Request Stefano composed the symphonic pièce “Concerto Azzurro” for piano and orchestra in three movements, commissioned by MDR of Leipzig and arranged by Paolo Silvestri, who had already worked with him on "Concertone". Light blue (Azzurro) is the color of the fifth chakra, that of hearing. Light blue tells us: listen to yourself and to others. And adds: Create! Disobey! Light blue never stops talking. It keeps on sending messages to remind us that “there is a key to every door” (Robert Musil) and that “every door is a possibility, not an obstacle” (Charlie Chaplin), but also that “light blue is a color, and this should be enough” (Julius Caesar). The meaning of "Concerto Azzurro" has been admirably summarized in a single sentence by Lucy Van Pelt, Charlie Brown’s friend, who affirmed: “I’ve thought about it a lot recently and I’ve convinced myself that making the sky blue was a good idea!” Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3_OgHH8jjs www.esound.es

GIOVANNI GUIDI & FABRIZIO BOSSO "NOT A WHAT" Availability: Generally Available Line-up: Fabrizio Bosso (trumpet), Aaron Burnett (tenor sax), Giovanni GUIDI (piano), Dezron Douglas (bass), Joe Dyson (drums) Giovanni Guidi and Fabrizio Bosso have travelled very different paths: Guidi as piano player, for many years at the Enrico Rava’s court, after recording four albums for Cam Jazz, landed to the blazoned ECM, where he already recorded three albums as leader; Fabrizio Bosso worldwide known for his achievements in his instrument, recorded for Blue Note, Verve and, currently, for Warner. They met last summer in Italy during the Umbria Jazz Festival, where they shared the stage, Guidi playing with the Enrico Rava – Tomasz Stanko Quintet, Bosso presenting his project dedicated to Dizzy Gillespie “The Champ”. They want to bring their music together, pursuing an idea that could push themselves further and beyond their personal research. They called three young incredibly talented musicians from New York to join them in this new project. Aaron Burnett, tenor sax, who is growing fast in the New York scene (Wynton Marsalis, Esperanza Spaulding, Kurt Rosenwinkel), Dezron Douglas, a very reliable and propulsive bass player (Ravi Coltrane, Louis Hayes, Cyrus Chestnut) and Joe Dyson, one of the most valued drummer to-day. The band, who’s name takes inspiration from the quote by Bill Evans “ Jazz is NOT A WHAT, it is a how” will be touring in Europe on March 2019.
