“HANDS ON” INDUSTRIAL CULTURE
At Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord, discover the iron-
works, a true industrial culture landmark.
Industrial history, leisure and culture all abound on the
200-hectare site. There are numerous attractions to be
found here such as a high-wire course, the diving gaso-
meter and a climbing garden in the midst of former ore
bunkers. In the evening, lighting designed by the British
artist Jonathan Park transforms the ironworks into a
fascinating spectacle. Explore this unique landscape on
a tour with our guide or a former worker at the steel mill,
who can tell you from his own experience how workers
used to “slave away” here.

MAGIC MOUNTAIN
THE ONLY WALK-ON ROLLER COASTER
IN THE WORLD
Discover the only roller coaster in the world where you can
take a walking tour and find out what “Tiger and Turtle” is all
about. The sculpture towers 20 metres high and can be seen
from afar on top of Heinrich Hildebrand Höhe in the south of

THE FAMOUS CARTOGRAPHER
Join Gerhard Mercator, the famous cartographer and ast-

OSKARS HAFENWELT
AN ATMOSPHERIC BOAT TRIP
An individual boat tour around the remote corners of the
world’s biggest inland port can be enjoyed in the cult motor
yacht OSKAR.
The tour starts at the Schifferbörse pier. With a view of the
Rhine, it takes in the Hafenkanal (port canal), the Möwenin-
sel (seagull island) and Schiffsfriedhof (ship graveyard). Later
on, the little boat chugs its way to the Ruhrort port basin.
Duisburg’s first container terminal and the old listed shipyard
are also part of the tour.
The old motor yacht OSKAR allows us to explore every aspect
of the port.

FROM THE EXCAVATED LAKE TO THE
SPORTPARK DUISBURG
In 1919, the company Krupp gave its gravel excavation site
in Wedau to the city of Duisburg with the instruction to cre-
ate a sports and recreational area for the local population.
This led to the creation of Germany’s biggest and most di-
verse sports and recreation park on an area now covering
some 200 hectares. The Regattabahn is world-famous. MSV
Duisburg play their opponents in the schauinsland-rei-
sen-Arena. There is an indoor ice rink, athletics facilities, a
swimming complex and a high ropes course. Several clubs
and associations are based here. The guided tour can be ta-
ken on foot or by bike.

located in Duisburg, the “steel heart” of the Ruhr Area. Ever
since HKM was founded by Krupp Stahl AG and Mannes-
