PATHWAY OPTIONS FROM SECONDARY SCHOOL TO TAFE Did you know that there are direct pathways from your senior secondary school studies into a course at Wodonga TAFE? Undertaking a Vocational Education and Training (VET) course while at secondary school provides you with the valuable learning and experience that can lead to employment and further study post year 12. Students who have successfully completed a VET course whilst at school may be eligible for credit and can shorten the length of their studies at Wodonga TAFE. Some examples of the type of VET training you can do during your secondary school studies are: • You can be a year 12 school leaver and go directly into a Certificate II or above course • You can be a VET in Schools student at your secondary school and head directly into the related TAFE course upon graduation • If you are a VCAL student, you can start your training journey within secondary school and may be able to gain credit into a related course upon graduation • For secondary school students aged 15 and over, you can undertake a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship during your secondary school studies which incorporates 1 full day of paid work placement per week. Upon graduation you can move into TAFE studies to • continue on in your chosen trade (or similar) and complete the full trade qualification • You can partake in a pre-apprenticeship course within your secondary school studies as part of your VCE or VCAL program and upon graduation can transition into a Certificate II or IV qualification at TAFE, either in the same field or something similar See table for a comprehensive list of courses you can enrol in while still completing your secondary school qualification, as well as the courses it can lead to at Wodonga TAFE upon graduation. 4
