Cache Valley Summer Reading Program Exchange When reading is more than its own reward Note: This only represents libraries that responded back to CVLA. Check with your local library for details on their reading program.
Smithfield Public Library • The library has reading clubs for all ages, babies to grown-ups KIDS • Virtual Storytimes for Kids: Tuesdays @ 10:30 AM – Corresponding craft kit available • Storytimes in the Park: Thursdays @ 10 AM – Smithfield’s Central Park (right next to the library) • Blankets & Social Distancing required
Smithfield Public Library • Virtual Hogle Zoo field trips! Fridays, starting June 11th – Contact the library for information & to sign-up Everyone • Book Walk in Mack Park – New book every two weeks Teens • Take and Make crafts for teens • Virtual Game Groups – Dungeons & Dragons – Jackbox Games
Smithfield Public Library Adults • Book Club – Every 3rd Thursday. Website will have details on what will be discussed each month. • Virtual Crafting Classes – Monthly craft class (Space is limited!) – Cake decorating – Acrylic painting – Felt unicorn finger puppets
Mendon Library • Kick-off event: June 1st @ Mendon Station 95 N Main St @ 6:30 – 8:30 PM Reader Zone App
North Logan Library • There will be live, in-person, performances at the library all summer long! – Wed, June 16: Dazzle Dogs – Wed, July 7: Rocky Mountain Puppets ventriloquism show – Wed, July 14: Scales & Tails Bird Show – Wed, July 21: Scales & Tales Reptile Show – Wed, July 28: Magician Jason Porter – Wed, August 11: Magic of Mike Hamilton – More programs coming, check the website Reader Zone App Prizes will include books, candy bars, candy, bookmarks, and much more!
Logan Library KIDS • For the most part, the program will be run virtually, via • We will provide paper "passports" to help children keep track of the weeks, missions and reading times. • We will highlight a different animal weekly, and there will be corresponding crafts and missions, in addition to the reading goal. • The reading goal for ages 11 and younger is 60 minutes a week. • We will attempt to have some in-person storytimes (likely outdoors) Prizes will include books, candy, treats bookmarks, toys, & coupons!
Logan Library Teens • For the most part, the program will be run virtually, via • Weekly, in-person programming will resume (Teen Tuesday) beginning June 1 • Week 1: Board Games • Week 2: Video Games • Week 3: Crafts • Week 4: Tech Tuesdays (YouTube, Robots, TikTok, whatever) • Week 5: (June & Aug) Live prize drawings for books, candy, gift cards and a monthly grand prize. • The reading goal for ages 11+ is 100 minutes/week. • Missions will be based on animals with amazing tails. Prizes will include books, candy, treats gift cards, coupons & grand prizes (TBD)
Logan Library Adults • For the most part, the program will be run virtually, via • June 1 – Aug 31 • Probably very similar to the current reading program • Option to read up to 60 minutes a day • Prize ½ way through (Library swag) • Prize at reading goal completion ($5 gift card) • Grand prize drawing for 2 $50 gift cards
Logan Family Center • June 8 – July 30 • Weekly themed story time “Summer camps” – Register via Eventbrite (links on website) – Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday are the same, repeated program each week. • Weekly Friday “Open Play” and storytime • July 30th end of summer/goodbye to the community party Prizes will include books, candy, treats bookmarks, toys, & coupons!
Cache County Library • June 1 – July 30 • No in-person events planned • Come into the library to pick up summer reading packets!
Hyrum Library • Hyrum Library plans a kick-off party June 7th • We are doing in-person programs for 8 weeks with various programs throughout the summer.
