Unified Academy Y10 ART Spring1 Wk5 AQA 76379 DESIGNING A TATTOO Children's Mental Health Week 2021 Children's mental health charity Place2Be has set up Children's Mental Health Week 2021 and it will take place from February 1st to February 7th. Its aim is to highlight the importance of mental health within children and young people. The theme of Children's Mental Health Week this year is 'Express Yourself'. The aim is to encourage children and young people to express themselves in a variety of ways. For example, expressing yourself can be about sharing your feelings, thoughts and ideas through creativity. An important part of this theme is that expressing yourself doesn't mean that you're the best at something. It's all about finding a way to show other people who you are and how you feel. It's about showing how you see the world and finding a way to 'express yourself' which feels good to you. Expressing yourself in a way that's unique to you is a great way to improve mental wellbeing. A tattoo design is a form of expression. There are different styles that will fit every unique personality. The image should be considered carefully so you can find the best way to express yourself. Try a select an image which reflects you or something that is important about you that you want to share with others. To gain an AQA award you will need to show evidence that your artwork satisfies each target below. Unified Academy Y10 ART Spring1 Wk5 AQA 76379 DESIGNING A TATTOO Genre of Tattoos 1.The traditional style, also called old school tattoo style, American traditional tattoo style, classic tattoo style or Western traditional tattoo style, is known for its bold lines, bright colours, and iconic designs like roses, anchors, and beautiful lady heads. 2. Realism or Realistic Tattoo Style Though classic realism has been a part of the fine art since as far back as the Renaissance, it only found its way to the world of tattoos recently, cropping up around the latter half of the 20th century. Since then, this new tattoo style has become increasingly refined (due to improved tools and inks) and extremely popular. You can find detailed colour and black and grey portraits of pretty much any celebrity you can think of as well as realistic images from nature and just about anything else imaginable, even the surreal. 3.Watercolor Tattoo Style This style is a combination of the conventional watercolour paintings and the skill of tattooing. Watercolour is also characterized by bright colours that are distributed on the skin as if the ink was spilled. The colours can be used along with an image or lettering in black. Colours are often scattered over the main image.
