SHASHANEWS NEWS SHA-SHATEC Anniversary Dinner 2018 T he SHA and SHATEC jointly organised an Anniversary Dinner at the Grand Ballroom, Mandarin Orchard Singapore on 27 September 2018 to celebrate 57 and 35 years of excellence, respectively. Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Trade and Industry, Mr Chee Hong Tat graced the event which was well attended by more than 500 hoteliers, industry stakeholders, professionals and SHATEC Alumni. Hosted by renowned emcee, Justin Mission, it was an evening filled with entertainment. The highlight of the event was a specially curated menu by 6 SHATEC Alumni Chefs who showcased their cooking skills through the 5-course menu for diners to relish upon. Another highlight of the event was the Lucky Draw segment. A total of 50 attractive prizes were presented at the event and the top prize winner walked away with a cruise package; sponsored by the Genting Cruise Lines. 4

SHA NEWS Hotel Security Conference and Awards 2018 A nnual Hotel Security Award Presentation Ceremony 2018 was held on 30th October at Furama RiverFront Singapore. The event was graced by Mr Zaqy Mohamad, Minister of State, Ministry of National Development and Ministry of Manpower. Jointly organised by the Singapore Hotel Association, Singapore Police Force and National Crime Prevention Council, the award ceremony was held in conjunction with the annual Hotel Security Conference. A record-breaking number of 96 hotels were recognised at the 23rd edition of the annual award ceremony this year. 85 hotels were awarded the Hotel Security Excellence Award while another 11 received the Hotel Security Award. 3 of the recipient hotels also received the Hotel Security Star Award for receiving the award for 20 consecutive years in recognition of their consistent commitment in ensuring a safe and secure hotel environment.
