Proposal to Change Organization Name Motion: The AIGC Board of Directors moves that the organization change the name from "Rensselaer Alumni Inter-Greek Council" to "Rensselaer Alumni Fraternity and Sorority Council" and if so adopted make the requisite changes to the organization's Constitution, with the abbreviation of the name from AIGC to AFSC. Rationale: Over the past few years with the GLTF reviews and recommendations and the Phired-Up recommendations to improve our messaging and to also remove confusion during Student orientation and NRB from new students and parents about what "Greek Life" means, when we are really talking about Fraternities and Sororities, we feel it is time for the alumni to lead the charge in this rebranding. We also have made a strong recommendation to the RPI Administration to change all the branding in their communications to Fraternities and Sororities and to change the name of the “Office of Greek Life Commons” to “Fraternity and Sorority Life Commons” (or something similar to remove "Greek" from the terminology and Off Campus Commons doesn’t have Office in its name). For context, remember before CLASS came about in 2010, the department within Student Life was the "Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs" https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScgt9Hjq_o850FFskqv3o5DAinNu713 GD49MC7KeP3JLf7f0A/viewform 10/17/2020 Fall 2020 AIGC Meeting 33

Phired Up Marketing & Growth Strategy Recommendations Report: Key Insights Deferred Recruitment ◦ Obviously the shift to deferred recruitment last year created new challenges for the fraternity/sorority community. ◦ Our initial visit (in August, 2019) allowed us to witness and feel the significant fear, angst, and uncertainty related to this shift. ◦ The community did what it could do to adapt, but there is more culture change required as we move forward.. Foundational Recruitment Support ◦ The “recruitment culture” of RPI Fraternity/Sorority life when we started this partnership was stagnant and static. ◦ In general, organizations did most of their recruitment in very traditional, somewhat dated, and “wait for them to come to us” ways. ◦ Helping the community adapt Dynamic Recruitment principles is a primary driver of our work. ◦ Every single chapter should immediately become familiar with ChapterBuilder as their year-round recruitment technology. ◦ This will require a long-term commitment, consistency, and patience. Staff Vacancies ◦ Without full-time, long-term staff members in place to directly advise and help manage the health, safety, and growth of the fraternity/sorority community, there will continue to be challenges in implementing cultural improvement. ◦ The staff members that served the community in 2019 deserve a big trophy. They did excellent work in challenging circumstances. ◦ The 2020 year will bring even more challenging circumstances. Long-term staff is an important piece of the puzzle. No Clear Narrative ◦ What is the story of RPI Fraternities and Sororities? Outside of “social” and “fun” and “brotherhood/sisterhood,” what is the compelling narrative for the community. ◦ We intended to help build this in Fall 2019, but the community was at a much more basic level of readiness. ◦ It’s time to define that story. ◦ It’s time to make a clear value proposition for involvement in fraternity/sorority life. ◦ We hope you’ll like our recommendations in this report. 10/17/2020 Fall 2020 AIGC Meeting 56
Phired Up Marketing & Growth Strategy Recommendations Report: Key Insights Uncertainty Around Recruitment Rules ◦ The community would benefit greatly from a simplified, universally understood, and minimalized set of “rules” around what they should/shouldn’t and can/can’t do with first-semester students related to recruitment and marketing. We recommend (for instance). To help first-semester RPI students thrive mentally, emotionally, and academically, fraternity and sorority members will follow these guidelines related to marketing and recruitment for their organizations. 1. We will actively build healthy relationships with first-semester students. 2. We will invite first-semester students to service, philanthropy, academic success, Greek Life informational, and personal development opportunities for their benefit (and to build friendships). 3. We will not invite first-semester students to any events with alcohol. 4. We will not promise (or hint at promising) invitations to membership. 5. We will share information about our organizations with pride, and we will work hard to learn about first-semester students while we build trust and connection with them. 10/17/2020 Fall 2020 AIGC Meeting 57
Phired Up Marketing & Growth Strategy Recommendations: Cultivate Connection Marketing Narrative Recommendation ◦ You are an RPI student. You are driven. You are exceptional. You are inventive. And you are almost certainly going to change the world. ◦ We are here to help RPI students forge their future. RPI fraternities and sororities deliver on three clear promises: 1. We transform lives. There is no better personal and professional development opportunity on campus. 2. We advance the Rensselaer and Troy community. We are committed community servants and contributors. 3. We support each other. Brotherhood and sisterhood are far more than friendships. We are purpose-driven, values-based, life-long companions. ◦ As an RPI student, we know you are seeking a well-rounded college experience that will not only prepare you for your career, but give you lasting memories and fellowship during your college years. Our members’ futures are forged in the warmth of sisterhood and brotherhood, sharpened by our belief in one another, and perfected in our hands-on experience serving our community.
