CEBRI is growing continuously and currently has 112 members representing the most diverse economic sectors. The members are strategic partners who actively contribute to building the agendas and activities of each thematic program. In the first half of 2021, Altera, the Embassy of Korea, Embraer and Suzano became members of CEBRI. CEBRI’s first online course is one of the main highlights of this period. The public’s engagement exceeded our highest expectations, showing the course’s relevance and its appeal to society, especially young people, regarding the role of Brazilian international and diplomatic relations. We had nearly 1,600 registrants from 27 countries and practically every Brazilian state, and half were aged 25 or less. INTRODUCTION 5
The initiative also allowed CEBRI to exercise its social responsibility. About 60% of the participants, among students, women and representatives of civil society, received partial or full scholarships. In addition, in order to support families affected by the pandemic in the state of Rio de Janeiro, 10% of the course’s revenue was donated to Movimento União Rio (Rio Union Movement) for the purchase of 500 staple food baskets. Initiatives such as the Energy Transition Program, a partnership between CEBRI, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Energy Research Office (EPE), and the course on the history of Brazilian diplomacy, among others, have gained wide visibility in the press and on social media. As a result, CEBRI was directly mentioned more than 400 times in Brazil´s main media and news outlets, and it now has more than 50,000 followers on social networks. These achievements were only possible with the support of our members, the outstanding presence and leadership of our Trustees and Senior Fellows, and the unity and commitment of our team. Best Regards, José Pio Borges Julia Dias Leite Chairman of the Board CEBRI CEO of Trustees at CEBRI 6 CEBRI - JANUARY TO JUNE 2021
