It includes a fully functioning word processor, a spreadsheet application, a presentation package, a drawing and flowchart generator and a database. The program is also supported by very extensive online documentation and instruction manuals. We will initially look at the word processing app. to get an understanding of the layout of the screens and how to navigate the various menus and toolbars, since this is something that most of us are likely to have some familiarity with. There will be plenty of hands-on exercises to create and manipulate text with the aim of building confidence in using the program. The other apps in the suite have essentially the same layouts, commands and toolbars as the word processor. With this basic structure understood, it will be relatively easy to progressively work through the other apps during our 8 weeks together. The course will be suitable for people with limited experience of office applications, but also relevant for those who may have had some prior exposure but looking for other options or to extend their knowledge. You will need to download and install LibreOffice from the LibreOffice.org website onto your own computer.. A guideline for how to do this will be sent to participants prior to the commencement of the class. It will also be helpful if you can work with the LibreOffice application whilst participating in the Zoom call. This can be achieved by either : 1. opening two windows on your computer: one for LibreOffice and the other for Zoom. or 2. participating in the Zoom call on a separate device, such as another computer, a tablet (e.g. iPad) or a smartphone.. Zoom links will be sent to accepted members close to the start of the class and no later than the day before. University of the Third Age Nunawading Inc Page 12 of 62.
