#EnjoyTheChallenge #PlayWithHart 2022 Program Saturday 11 – Monday 13 June 2022 Camden and District Netball Association
Welcome On behalf of the Board of Netball NSW I am delighted to Of course, this weekend doesn’t happen by accident. welcome all participants to the 2022 HART Senior State Titles As anyone who attends our State Titles can attest to, a huge which are taking place at the Campbelltown District and amount of work goes into staging such large-scale events and I Camden & District Netball Associations this weekend. would like to take this opportunity to thank the many volunteers I would firstly like to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of all at both Campbelltown and Camden, as well as the Team at the Lands on which we’ll meet over the coming days and pay Netball NSW, for their efforts. my respects to the Elders past, present and emerging. I would I would also like to thank HART Sport, our Senior State Titles also like to extend a special welcome to all First Nations peoples naming rights partner, for all of their continued support of who will be either participating in the Senior State Titles, or netball in this state. supporting from the sidelines. To the next generation of NSW talent across the fields of Having come through two hugely disrupted seasons as a result playing, coaching and umpiring who will take the court this of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been truly refreshing for our weekend, I wish you all the best. community to finally have the chance to properly prepare for an event of this scale, which remains one of the largest and most Enjoy the moment. important on the Netball NSW calendar. While COVID-19 remains part of our everyday lives, we have thankfully reached the point where we’ve learned to live with the virus. It was uncharted territory for all of us when the pandemic started in 2020 but I remain proud of how our game did its part to aid the wider community. Nothing can make up for the disappointments of missed Louise Sullivan opportunities over the past two years, but 24 months of hardship can make us appreciate this year’s competition all the President, more. Netball NSW Thankfully, in 2021, we were able to host the Senior State Titles in Liverpool and Bankstown, however, I think we are all finding comfort in the greater degree of certainty and normality that has returned since the huge COVID-19 vaccination rollout. This weekend Campbelltown plays host to teams contesting Division 1 of the Opens, and Division 1 and 2 of 17U and 15U age groups, while Camden welcome players in Division 2 of Opens and Division 3 and 4 of 17U and 15U. Excitingly, for the first time ever, we will have Men’s Divisions at the Senior State Titles which will be contested in Campbelltown on Saturday and Sunday in two Opens competitions (Divisions 1 & 2). This is a ground-breaking development and comes as netball in NSW looks to continue expanding the game’s reach beyond its traditional playing base. A frontrunner in terms of playing numbers when it comes to grassroots sport, netball has long been recognised as the leading team sport for women and young girls, as well as the standout leader in high-performance space for the same demographic. However, as part of Netball Australia’s State of the Game Review, a compelling case was made for netball to be more inclusive in many areas including gender. The inclusion of male divisions in the Junior and Senior State Titles – the sport’s showpiece events at grassroots level – is a vital part of securing our game’s future by ensuring it is a safe space for all. We are exceptionally proud to have our inaugural male State Titles teams competing this weekend, and I encourage everyone to take the time to see what brilliant skills and athleticism they bring to the game. 2022 hart senior state titles Camden and District Netball association 2
