OVERVIEW
The Digital Skills Agency provides strategic professional training to help boost the
impact and reach of your work with key target audiences.

Topics in this course list can be mixed and matched to deliver the skills you and your
team need to do your jobs. Course duration can range from half a day to several weeks,
to maximise opportunities for trainer feedback and promote collaborative learning.

All training is currently being delivered online to minimise COVID19 disruption. Our
typical approach for each topic consists of:
    3.5 hours online live sessions delivered via Zoom
    If more than one session is required, sessions can be organised daily or weekly
    1-3 hours practical offline exercises after each live session
    One-to-one consults for personal feedback
    Private forums (Slack, Facebook Groups, WhatsApp / Telegram Groups etc) for
    collaborative learning and sharing offline assignments.

                     CORINNE PODGER
                                   Corinne Podger is the Director of the Digital Skills
                                   Agency. Since 2013 she has trained journalists, CSOs
                                   and researchers in more than 60 countries, and
                                   lectured in digital journalism at the Universities of
                                   Sydney and Melbourne. Her teaching draws on an
                                   extensive media career in radio, TV, online and print,
                                   primarily with ABC Australia and the BBC World
                                   Service.

                                   Her clients include WAN-IFRA, the BBC, Reuters, the
                                   European Climate Foundation, World Health
                                   Organisation, Google News Initiative, World
                                   Federation of Science Journalists, UNESCO, Vietnam
                                   News Agency, Australian Council for International
                                   Development, Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union,
                                   Internews, and European Journalism Centre.

Corinne's specialisms include: digital-first newsgathering, online verification, mobile
journalism, social multimedia production, podcasting, and strategic audience
engagement to drive brand trust and media revenue. She also works with science and
social impact organisations to help journalists and communicators deliver clear
messaging on issues like COVID-19, climate change, public health, sustainable
finance, media literacy, and responses to misinformation and disinformation.

Corinne serves on the Advisory Boards for the Global Science Journalism Forum, and
the Local Independent News Association of Australia. She is a member of the
Journalism Education and Research Association of Australia and the Asia-Pacific
Institute for Learning and Performance. She works on an Associate basis with a global
network of professional trainers who speak Spanish, French, Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, and
Swahili.

Learn the core functions of Premiere Pro and be able to edit your first full
television-style or social package by the end of the session. Participants receive
raw footage, still images and graphics to edit during training. Note: Premiere Pro is
a paid-for program, and users pay a monthly or annual fee.

is available for free to Creative Cloud subscribers. Otherwise it has a monthly fee.

radio stations and podcast outlets around the world. Participants receive raw
interview audio, music and sound effects to edit during training. Note: Adobe
Audition is a paid-for program, and users pay a monthly or annual fee.

VN is a video editing app available for iPhones, Androids, Mac and Windows. The
smartphone versions of the app are free.

VIDEO EDITING WITH LUMAFUSION
LumaFusion is a standalone video and audio editing app for iPads and iPhones,
and is widely used in television and radio journalism. Note: LumaFusion has a
modest one-off price. The app must be purchased prior to taking part in this class.
Trial licenses are available for group bookings.

AUDIO EDITING WITH FERRITE
Ferrite is a fully-functional IOS-only audio recording and editing app suitable for
multi-track productions by podcasters and radio reporters. Simpler features can be
accessed for free, and a paid-for version will be demonstrated for participants to
review in-app purchase features.

HOW WE WORK
PROGRAMME DESIGN
A 1-hour free consultation is held with the client to discuss learning gaps to be
targeted with training, and to select modules and topics. We create a draft bespoke
programme agenda and a quote for services for client sign-off. Materials are then
produced in accordance with the client brief.

WE CAN PROVIDE:
  Relevant case studies to provide context and examples of best practice
  Pre- and post-course surveys to identify learning gaps and measure progress
  Relevant practical exercises for each module to build skills and confidence
  Course workbook and handouts to support post-course learning
  Access to course-specific forums (e.g. Facebook Groups, WhatsApp / Telegram
  Groups etc) for peer-to-peer learning.
  Digital Skills Agency and / or client certificate of completion

  Personal copy of session recordings for participants
  One-to-one mentoring sessions after training is complete
