Welcome Notes Justin M. Brockie Chief Operating Officer Welcome to the Therap National Conference. I am very excited to welcome you to our conference. Normally at this time of year I would be working on my plenary presentation and worrying about things like hotels, flights, weather, attendees and such. This year many of these concerns are not in the picture , instead they have been replaced by a whole new set of challenges - and, hopefully, opportunities. We had our first virtual conference back in August of 2020. Since then, we have worked on building our conference venue and enhancing your conference experience. Originally we were trying to recreate the in-person Therap conference experience, but quickly realised that this was a whole new medium and needed to be treated as such. I hope you enjoy the fruits of our labor and will give us feedback so that we can make it even better in the future. This has been quite a year for all of us in the intellectual and developmental disability community world wide. I would like to take this opportunity to thank each of you and the people you work with, for all that you have done since we last met in Denver for the 2020 National Conference. The supports you have provided to folks through the most difficult of times is truly commendable. Here at Therap it’s been a year of reinvention as we have made significant upgrades to the application in terms of a brand new IDF, updated and upgraded ISP Programs and Data, and of course, more EVV than you can shake an FVV (Fixed Visit Verification) Device at! We have also been working out how to implement, train and support states and agencies across the country and around the world without being on-site. Please be sure to check out some of the sessions on our new training methods and materials. A couple of final thoughts, be sure to take in some User Presentations, they are great and your peers have put a lot of work into their sessions. Moreover, if at times you either are not sure what to go to next or you can’t find a topic that you are interested in, please find us on Chat at the Welcome Desk. Thanks again for coming, enjoy the conference and let's have a much better 2021! Stay well and stay safe. 08 Last update: 01/21
Welcome Notes Jeff Mau Assistant Director of Business Development Thank you for attending the 2021 Therap National Conference. 2020 has certainly impacted the way we gather for all sorts of events like these. I have been reminiscing about the past where we’d all be traveling, dealing with hotel accommodation issues and flight delays, finding Uber rides. Then, the excitement we experienced reconnecting with our Therap User Community upon arrival. Today, we find ourselves meeting via multiple, virtual methods. And while it’s great to see each other on a screen, I am sure that, like me, you are looking forward to the future where we can, again, join together in person. With this in mind, our Therap National Conference Planning Team has made great efforts to create a conference experience that will provide the “feel” of entering a convention center. Complete with floor maps, exhibit halls, a game room and “hallways” that will lead you to your breakout sessions, we have created the “Therap Conference Center” for this year’s National Conference. We hope our new ‘building’ provides you the sensation of being at a physical conference, rather than just at your desk. So, I invite you to walk around our conference center, visit our Exhibit Halls, have fun in the Game Room by testing your Therap knowledge with Quizzes and participate in our Scavenger Hunt. But most importantly, take full advantage of more than 250 sessions that the Therap team, our Users and Guest Speakers have prepared for you. Like all of our conferences, we want you to return to your respectful organizations with more Therap knowledge than when you arrived. Again, thank you for attending and enjoy the conference!
